Submissions Open for Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library Journal

Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library Journal Submissions

The theme of the first issue of So It Goes, The Literary Journal of the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library, was "War and Peace". It was released on Kurt Vonnegut’s birthday, November 11th, in honor of “Veterans Reclaim Armistice Day”. With a cast of contributors including Morley Safer, Dan Wakefield and Tim O’Brien, it made a decent start for the journal.

Now they’re opening the field for submissions for their second annual edition, to be released in November again. This year’s theme is "Humor", so it’ll be interesting to see what they get — particularly with this range of possibilities:

We want your whimsy, levity, dark satire, political parody, topical tomfoolery, sarcastic spoofs, and wit.  Keep in mind that we are looking for your unique voice and not just an imitation of Vonnegut’s trademark, humorous humanism. Please submit your poetry, creative nonfiction, short fiction, original artwork, and/or photography related to the theme of humor.

Fans of the author are sure to take part and it’s just the sort of thing I think Vonnegut would have approved of, if not necessarily the fact that it’s in his name.

Submissions will be accepted through July 15 for publication in November. You can find more information here and purchase the first issue from their online shop here. I'm off to order my copy now.

Hi, I'd really like to participate in this competition. I'd like to submit a short story. Question: what's the word count? Thanks!
