Second John Green Adaptation Headed for Theatres
It looks like John Green isn't wasting too much time between film adaptations of his beloved YA novels. Following hot on the heels of the pretty wonderful looking trailer for The Fault in Our Stars, an adaptation of Green's 2005 novel Paper Towns is being fast-tracked into production by Fox 2000, according to Deadline Hollywood.
The novel centers around two characters, Quentin and Margo, as they become friends after discovering a dead body together. The book later turns into a sort of loose mystery, with one of the characters going missing while the other has to seek out a series of perplexing clues.
The film, written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who also wrote the screenplay for The Fault in Our Stars, will hopefully inject some much-needed grittiness and mystery to the glutted YA film market, which has so far been dominated by fantasy and light sci-fi films. If Paper Towns ends up only half as good as The Fault in Our Stars appears, we may have a worthwhile film on our hands.
