Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro Hang Out on Google

Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid's Tale, and Alice Munro, prolific short story author and recent Nobel Prize laureate, met up for a live one-on-one videochat interview during an event for Selected Shorts in New York City. In it, the two Canadian authors discuss, among other things, Munro's favorite recent read, The Once and Future Great Lakes Country by John L. Riley.

While the interview isn't exactly in depth, and it's marred by all the technical issues you'd expect with video chat, it's very interesting to hear the two authors discuss the particulars of their craft, and especially the reasons why Munro has chosen to write short stories instead of novels.

Margaret Atwood turns me into a total fangirl. I can't help myself. She's so wonderful :)
