Can't believe I haven't mentioned this here yet, but submissions are now open for the Poseidon issue. I believe we need four more page 'likes' on facebook  in order to open up another submission category.

You'll also notice a good bump in overall artwork quality in the these upcoming stories for Q2, as Carrion House will be creating accompanying illustrations for the forseable future. You'll get a glimpse of what's in store when the first batch of previews go live on May 1st. All told, I'm very excited about this and can't wait for you all to see.

I know! I'm also trying to get artwork for Q1 as well, as all of the pictures (aside from "Heavyweight") was something I either took/made, or grabbed (legally, I swear!) from the interwebs.

The model for Heavyweight looks like a pretty legit dude.

How long is the Poseidon submission period open?

Officially, until mid September but judging by how the last two went, it'll fill up by sometime in July.

This is REALLY late, but I wanted to share with you guys the cover design for the Hades print issue. I'm hoping to get this up for sale at Amazon in the next month. Proceeds will go towards paying the contributors semi-pro rates, and covering general expenses. This amazing design was created by Luke Spooner over at Carrion House. We'll hopefully get started on bringing you the Artemis print issue soon as well!

The text on the cover and back is just to get an idea, not final. Still playing with it.

I'm trying to get us to the 100 "Likes" mark on Facebook (at 90 now). Anyone who helps gets a chance at a free copy of the Hades paperback.

You can find our page HERE.

This is what you can potentially WIN.

I've already liked it but I want a shot of winning that copy. If I share and promote it on Facebook can I be entered in the drawing

Good question, Jonathan. I may do a separate drawing. Like, if I get 10-15 "shares" of that page, I'll hand out an additional copy. If I do, I'll let you know.

EDIT: FYI - This drawing is also opened to those who hit the "Share" button on this post and help us get the 7 more "Likes" to get 100. If we reach 120, two copies will be given out.

New things going on at Pantheon that I haven't mentioned:

Novellas/Series

We have two serials running simultaneously right now, Scoop by Eryk Pruitt and Hemlock by Bryan Howie. There's also one coming up by Jason Lairamore entitled, The Wallis Tree AND a graphic novel that'll be due out towards the end of the year that I'm very excited about. More on that one later.

We are closed for novellas/serialized fiction submissions until Jan 1, 2014.

Fiction

Two slots open for our Poseidon issue. This issue will feature wonderful stories, including the Teleport Us story by Linda Hallgren, entitled The Sea Came. Luke Spooner is returning to provide the artwork and cover piece for this issue.

The Dionysus issue is still pretty wide open, with several slots available. In that issue Richard Thomas's story, Head Like A Hole is lined up, as well as another piece by Megan Arkenberg (Harrowing Emily, Hades) and I'm hoping for more LitReactor folks. :)

Film/Book Reviews

Bill Tucker has taken the role of providing film reviews bi-weekly. Right now, he's reviewed Man of Steel, The Way, Way Back, and The Hunt. All very good. I'm still on the look-out for someone, or multiple  someones, to provide book reviews. So if you know anyone, send them my way!

Cool--glad you liked them, Ryan. And thanks!

I always try to give Litreactor folks a heads up when it comes to upcoming prompts, so to follow that tradition: April 2014 prompt will be Aphrodite. Looking for love, lost love, deranged relationships, and everything in between. Feel free to explore the theme. It doesn't have to adhere strictly to it. Submissions for that will open October, or maybe earlier if I want the abuse.

Lena Yuk has signed on to create the artwork for that issue. You can check out some of her designs by going to Nightmare Magazine. She's in the August issue's artist spotlight and created the issue cover.

Also, Clarkesworld Magazine has put out their Year 4 antho, and I'm pretty excited to see issue 1 and 4 author Megan Arkenberg in there. Always cool to see authors who've subbed at Pantheon in other places.

Richard's picture

Man, I may have to write something for that one. Or try to, anyway. OH< and damn, Lena is amazing. Is she doing Dionysus?

Sound's picture

Cool, I'm always open to seeing more of your writing Richard. Send whatever you got :)

As for the artwork for Dionysus, Luke Spooner will be rounding out the year by doing the cover art. Besides, seeing as its the first time working together, I wanted to give her ample time to work with. She seemed pretty interested in the whole pantheon concept, so I'm hoping she'll do more later.

Richard's picture

Sounds great. Shoot, with the theme of Aphrodite and the art of Lena, I'll have to send something your way. When do you open up for that theme?

Cool, Avery. Send whatever you have. I can think of a few of your stories that would fit the theme, actually.

You spelled it right, Leah! :) And submissions for Dionysus are open now via our Submittable page. Aphrodite doesn't officially open until Oct 1st, but I'd be happy to look at anyone's story before then. PM me if you need my email address.

Hope those of you who have already seen this everywhere aren't tired of my excitement. This was copied from my FB:

So now that I have the responses in my greasy paws, I can share that I had the pleasure of asking Pulitzer Prize winning author (The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, This Is How You Lose Her, and Drown) Junot Diaz some quick questions and he was kind enough to answer them.

Sadly, he would not give me his phone number so we could talk until the wee hours of the night about how influential his work was to me, but I appreciate the time he carved for me and my little project, Pantheon Magazine.

This blew my mind.
