I'm honored to get my FOURTH Pushcart Prize nomination of the year from Metazen for my story "Twenty Reasons to Stay and One to Leave."

http://www.metazen.ca/?p=9026

Out of 260 total poems and stories, that's amazing. I'm humbled and thrilled, really glad to see it get some recognition.

I like that Souls Out Of Erebus track. That's a good tune.

Some of your stuff had a bit of a KMFDM/Tim Skold type vibe to it, Phil, which can't be a bad thing.

Thunderdome released the schedule for their Christmas/holiday season of stories. I'll copy over what they posted about it here.

We're in the thick of the holiday season, and while the surface of the world is painted with bright lights and pretty colors, what lies beneath is something much darker. You'll get plenty of candy canes and gumdrops everywhere else. Consider us the cold, dark sorbet to cleanse the holiday palate. Here's the month to come!

Monday, December 5th - Burning in the Light of the Lord by Chris Deal
Monday, December 12th - My Father's Eye by Beau Johnson
Wednesday, December 14th - Home is Where the Heart Dies by Alissa Fehlbaum
Monday, December 19th - Silent Night by Katheryn Soverane
Wednesday, December 21st - Space Stompers by Martin Garrity
Wednesday, December 28th - Termnial by Daniel Donche

So that's pretty cool. Chris Deal's story is up there already. 21st for mine, which is a nice little Xmas present for me.

My psychic vampire story will be in a Dark Moon Books anthology out later this year. C. W. LaSart, Ken Cain, and many other fantastic authors. Yes, I did write a vampire story! But my twist is that they feed off of negative energy, energivores. Paperback print and Kindle.

Nice round-up, Laurance. You're right in that these proposals alone don't feel like much to get concerned about (relatively speaking), but when combined they are quite powerful, indeed.

Chester Pane's picture

@Laurance,

I couldn't agree more. Freedom of Speech is the cornerstone of everything this country stands for.

One would hope that we as a country have learned from the McCarthy era and that blacklisting along the lines that your article discusses would be a thing of the past.

That it would be a 'travesty' if this cocktail of potent bills were to pass is a gross understatement. Not only would it wreak havoc on the fluid flow of information that the internet provides, it would, as you said, compromise one of the U.S. Constitutions most valuable tenets.

Thanks for the enlightening read.

If the article suddenly disappears I will assume that these bills passed.

We have a big announcement from Solarcide on this fine Sunday—We’re featuring a great new guest story from Rebecca Jones-Howe, and very proud to be doing so.

Ms. Jones-Howe is an extraordinary talent in the department of sexual tension and strained relationships within families.

Her story at Solarcide is “Distance From Daddy,” and you can read that now right here.

My Christmas short story, Space Stompers, is now live over at Thunderdome.

It’s a lighthearted tale of a man who rediscovers his passion for the holiday after dramatic events in a shopping mall. It’s part of Thunderdome’s ‘Holiday Disasters’ collection.

You can read it here.

There’s a bunch of stories up there for this collection already, some great reading.

Thanks so much. It's one of my favorites too. When Murky Depths took it, but could only do 5000 words, I was happy, but not content. I decided to self-publish the full version (about 6800 words) on Amazon and Smashwords, just to get it out there (with the blessing of MD). Glad you dug it. I don't write a LOT of female POV, but this was one that I thought might have worked out okay. Appreciate the support as always, brother.

As previously hinted at, our first special guest story of the brand new year is live today, courtesy of our Litreactor buddy, Daniel Gonzales (aliensoul).

Wordgasm is a tale that blurs the line between literature and mental illness. Anybody that has ever taken pen to paper can sympathise. It could happen to us all.

You can find the story over here.

You can also 'like' and follow Solarcide at our brand new Facebook page, here.

Many thanks, people, for all the support in 2011. T'was a good year. We hope 2012 is going to be even better!

Our first guest interview of 2012 goes live today, and I think our guest hardly requires an introduction around these parts.

Craig Clevenger joins us for a chat about the projects he has been involved with since Dermaphoria, and gives us a little low-down on his new novel-in-progress.

We're obviously stoked to have him onboard. You can see the interview here.
