John D. MacDonald once bet a bar buddy that he could write a publishable novel in 30 days.  He won the bet.  The novel was called The Executioners and it was adapted for film as Cape Fear.  Twice.

Stories like that make me happy.

Jf--you should run self-help seminars or at least tutorials on how to sell Ginsu knives door to door.

The funny thing is I can motivate people to risk their lives by charging a hill, but can barely find the energy to shower everyday. But of course that is telling and not showing. Dammit, I need for the switch to flip in my head.

How about, "He could get men to hike up steep green hills but not to erase his own putrid scent."

Motivation: money, admiration, and oral love-making.

Let no man dissuade your path.

oral love making? lol

Most women are thinking of something else when they are sucking guys off like, "Did I leave the oven on?"  "Why doesn't he cum already?"  "Wow, he needs to wash his balls" or "I better get a good job recommendation for this."

I don't care what they are thinking about as long as they do it. I gotta go down, they gotta go down. Gender equality at its very best.

Utah, Water for Elephants had a similar success. It was originally written for NaNoWriMo.

I like to save all my luck for something incredible. For the time being, I think I'm just going to be floating the course rather than steering it.

Utah, I haven't read all the postings...but I was wondering what motivates you to power through?

@talkativecrustacean:  Oddly enough, even though I have far less free time now than I did before I was married, having a wife that supports my late nights and reclusive Sundays helps me out a lot.  That and a writing buddy.  And a relatively clear vision of what I want my life to be like, work-wise and financially, and a basic understanding of what it will take to get there, which is a lot of work.  And then a bunch more work.

But you know, I'm still relatively new to this "powering through" idea.  I've only just recently approached writing with any sort of discipline.  So I could be doing it wrong.

There's no need to rush. If something is meant to be, it'll happen. In the right time and for the best reasons.

I read that on Facebook just now.  Seems fake.

It is fake.  Nothing is "meant to be".

Rush.
