Since I'm going to be teaching a class here later this month, I thought it high time I stopped by and introduced myself to the community.
My name's Joe Nassise and I've been writing professionally for the last eleven years. I've sold 18 novels to date, including the internationally bestselling Templar Chronicles series and my current Great Undead War series from HarperVoyager. I also digitally self-publish some of my work, including both frontlist and backlist titles.
Once upon a time, I also served two terms as the president of the Horror Writers Association.
Happy to be here and looking forward to chatting with you all.
Think medival fantasy set in the modern era.
Welcome etc etc
I have to do this fast, sorry for the rush job.
These are the things that will happen in your welcome thread.
Matt post funny pic showing approval - Check.
Davery gives official welcome - Status Pending
Welcome to the lit.
P.S. - As the picture states please refrain from tazing Matt. If he had a dollar for every time this site got him tazed, he would have seven dollars.
Thanks for the welcome, all!
Kyle - urban fantasy is also known as contemporary fantasy and it revolves around fantastic elements in a contemporary, urban setting. Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden serirs, Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim series, and PatriciA briggs's Mercy Thompson books are all good examples.
The Sandman Slim books are great, as are Charlie Huston's Joe Pitt Casebooks. Not so great is Laurell Hamilton's stuff, who, if I recall correctly, was one of the first hugely popular urban fantasy writers (Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series). I found the Anita Blake books really fell off after the first couple.
