My 3rd Gen Apple TV is only worth being a second screen to my Mac. With Chromecast I could stream from Google Drive. Do any of you have a Chromecast? If so, have you tried streaming through Google Drive? I read that you can do it by turning your Google Drive movie folder into a Google Plus folder and then hitting the Chromecast button from there. Might buy one next weekend.

What I want to do is to be able to stream from Google Drive movies from an iPhone and a Android, to Chromecast. That's all I'm trying to do. I read that it is possible to do with the June update to Chromecast, by using the Google Plus app on your phone, going into your albums and choosing the Google Drive album that you shared to your plus account.

Have any of you done this before? Like with a 1080p movie for example? And what's the quality, is it steady or what?

I've never tried streaming with Google Drive, but I love my Chromecasts for streaming from Netflix and my Plex server (great results for both). Also stream from the web using Googlecast in Chrome for stuff like international sports.

Maybe I'll give what you suggest a try.
