Unprintable: The LitReactor Podcast Episode 1 - The Premiere

Here's a Halloween treat for all you LitTricksters out there: the very first episode of our brand-spanking-new podcast, Unprintable! Every month, Unprintable will take an irreverent look at books, the publishing industry, reading, writing, and more; featuring the know-it-all geekery of LitReactor columnist Cath Murphy (all the way from Norway!), Senior Editor Rob W. Hart, and Managing Editor Joshua Chaplinsky. It's been a long time coming, and we are excited to finally be sharing this with you. That being said, be gentle. It's our first time, and we're still figuring this thing out.

We aren't on iTunes yet, but will be in a couple of days. In the future, links to Unprintable on iTunes will be made available the day the podcast posts. Once we are up and running there, PLEASE rate, review, and leave comments. It makes a huge difference in expanding our audience, and everyone wants to see this baby survive, right?

Any questions? Comments? Criticisms? Suggestions? Help us help you. Email them to podcast@litreactor.com.

Hope you enjoy the show!

Episode 1: The Premiere

Cath, Rob, and Josh argue about Cloud Atlas, Tucker Max, Johnny Depp's publishing imprint, the iPad mini, and book piracy. Barbs are thrown. Feelings get hurt. Hilarity ensues.

Your Hosts

Cath Murphy writes for a bunch of literary and film websites (where “bunch” isn’t quite as many as it sounds), offering unwanted opinions on anything that appears in her crosshairs. She is a cohost of Unprintable: The Official Podcast of LitReactor.com, and along with the fabulous Eve Harvey she also podcasts very rude stuff on Sluttylemon.

Rob W. Hart is the website and social media administrator for MysteriousPress.com. His short stories have appeared in Dogmatika and Shotgun Honey, and he is the author of The Last Safe Place: A Zombie Novella. He lives in New York City. You can find him on the interwebz at www.robwhart.com.

Joshua Chaplinsky is the Managing Editor of LitReactor. He also writes for Twitch and has written for ChuckPalahniuk.net. He might still be a guitarist in the band SpeedSpeedSpeed and is the poison pen behind thejamminjabber, although he's not so sure he should admit it.

Special Thanks to Gordon Highland for the intro and musical cues. Visit him at gordonhighland.com.

Lastly, we are looking to hire on an intern who will transcribe each episode for the site.  So if you're a fast and clear typer with clean formatting and gramatical skills and you'd like to help us out, shoot us an email at podcast@litreactor.com with 'Transcriber!' in the subject.

Hey, cool! Enjoyed this a lot. You guys have a good, natural chemistry, as well as wit and vocabulary to match. I chuckled mightily at the "monoscopic viewpoint" quip. haha

Check out that new Kindle—the e-ink frontlit one—the Paperwhite. I, too, prefer the simplicity of an e-reader without all the tablet features. Makes it more disposable if I want to upgrade later, plus I hate reading off LCDs. One thing that bugs me in Kindle editions, though, is when the publisher leaves out chapter stops and the links to navigate between them. Kinda like David Lynch, who doesn't include chapter stops in his DVDs because he wants the film experienced in its entirety. But those are over in a couple of hours.

Oh, and that page-turn transition is friggin sweet.

Yeah, the Paperwhite is where I'm headed. Already asked for it for Xmas.  Thanks for listening and commenting.

I had a good giggle over Cath Murphy's dismissal of Cloud Atlas. Then she really gets down to the root cause: 'I didn't get it! I hate things I don't get!'
