Original Archie Comic Series to End with Issue #666

The original Archie series is set to conclude with the release of issue #666, which will be published this June.

According to Comics Alliance, the Archie series is one of the longest-running American comics of all time that hasn’t been renumbered or rebooted. Archie #666 promises to evoke fond memories of the historical adventures of Archie and his pals. In a recent article GalleyCat noted that the issue’s execution will include Archie Comics legends Tom DeFalco, Dan Parent, Fernando Ruiz, and Pat and Tim Kennedy.

The series will then be rebooted with a new issue #1, which will hit shelves later this summer. In a past Reddit AMA session CEO John Goldwater stated that “Archie #1 is going to be a completely fresh take on the Archie universe. We will harken back to the early days when Archie was born, in 1941 [with the] same sort of humor and visual sight gags, but completely new, current and modern.”

I remember the Archie comic series fondly from my childhood, and hope the rebooted version will be as good as the original! Anyone else have thoughts on the change?
