Float On: New Trailer for ‘It’ Released

A remake in the works since 2009, the first trailer for 2017’s It landed today, bringing us all a peek into the world of Derry, the Losers’ Club, and of course, Pennywise.

For comparison, here’s a “now on video” trailer for the 1990 made-for-TV version:

You’ve seen the trailers. Lots of you have read the book. Lots of you have also seen King’s other works adapted for the screen.

What’s your prediction?

News by Peter Derk

Peter Derk lives, writes, and works in Colorado.  He's a master of library science (which is a real thing) and considers himself a master of picking out the one functional treadmill in any gymnasium (which is not a real thing).  Buy him a drink sometime and he'll talk books all day.  Buy him two and he'll be happy to tell you about the horrors of being responsible for a public library's restroom.

I predict this new version will be as terrifying an experience as reading the book for the first time. The update of seeing Pennywise walking in photos in a photo album to slides on a wall almost made me pee my pants...and I started reading IT the day the book was published. . . . okay, I'm old, but not as old as King. I'm very excited to see it, in the way I kinda want to see the monsters under my bed. Just to see if they're real. But oh God don't let them be worse than I imagine.

I'm finishing my present book, BEACH MUSIC, so I can re-read IT before the revised movie release in September. I believe this new adaptation is going to take the viewers deeper inside the book..to the house where IT resided to the slides on the wall and much more...new and improved images to scare viewers silly! I predict this new version (since it has Stephen King's stamp of approval) will attract new viewers and force TV version viewers to get off the couch and buy a ticket to see the improved movie of IT - the way Stephen King wanted it viewed. I know I can't wait to see it!
