Buy a Nook This Christmas and Barnes & Noble Will Give a Book to Charity

Buy a Nook, We’ll Give a Book

Barnes & Noble has seen sales of its Nook drop off recently and they’ve come up with a solution to get people to buy one for Christmas: for every Nook you buy before the big day, they’ll donate a new print book to the charity First Book, “a non-profit that gives new books to children in need.”

Called “Buy a Nook, We’ll Give a Book”, the drive is not a new venture for the bookstore; they’ve been collecting and distributing books for the past 20 years, adding up to more than a million books a year and forwarding them on to thousands of charities across the U.S.

Last year, Barnes & Noble customers and booksellers donated more than 1.2 million books which were shared with more than 2,000 local charities.

This might not be enough to convince you to buy a Nook if you weren’t already thinking about it, but to sweeten the pot, Barnes & Noble are also giving $20 gift cards “to customers who buy a Nook HD with a MasterCard.”

So, what do you think? Putting a Nook on your list?
