Pick a director and a composer for your soundtrack.
Don't tell about your book. Let us all infer what we can from your two decisions. Are what people inferring what you expected?
My book? The Movie directed by Darren Aronofsky, original soundtrack by Daniel Licht.
Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Soundtrack by: Joe Hisaishi
I'm pretty sure the only composers for movies are Clint Mansell, John Williams, and Danny Elfman. But ok: Shane Black and Kid Rock (no wait...Mike Patton--because his music for Crank 2 was really great). Or alternates for directors: John McTiernan or Michael Bay (but only if an awesome screenwriter adapts the book and Michael Bay isn't allowed to make changes to the script).
Director: David Fincher
Original Score by: Danny Elfman
Director:Bill Forsyth (but John Huston if he were alive)
Composer: Fabio Frizzi (but Giancarlo Toniutti if he did film scores)
Director: Sean Ellis
Composer: Royksopp
David Fincher, Trent Reznor and Aticus Ross.
Well that's just The Social Network - but I'm ok with that.
I'm pretty sure the only composers for movies are Clint Mansell, John Williams, and Danny Elfman.
You forgot Hans Zimmer; he's done some fantastic scores.
I would hate for something I wrote to be a movie. Unless you are a huge name, they will fuck your shit up, as the kids say.
That said, if I had to choose,
Director: Martin Scorcese
Soundtrack: Michael Gira/SWANS
Director: Michael Mann or Clint Eastwood
Composer: Sigur Ros
Michael Bay and Marilyn Manson.
It's about giant gothic robots with no talent.
The Coen Brothers and Hans Zimmer
Director: Quentin Tarantino
Composer: Carter Burwell
Teamup between David Fincher and Will Gluck for director
Soundtrack of Yann Teirsan and assorted rock, metal and emo groups (Muse, BVB, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.)
Southern Gothic
Director - Guillermo Del Toro or Lars Von Trier
Composer - Gavin Bryars or Brian Eno (or both)
I want Chris Sanders to be the director. Despite How to Train Your Dragon having little similarity to the books, I felt the feeling of the books was the same, so it was fine to me. I'll add another thing: I'd like Dreamworks to animate it. Yes. It shall be animated!
For composer? Hmm... Daft Punk and Anamanaguchi. Let's see what those guys can come up with together.
Director :: Guillermo del Toro
Composer :: John Williams
I'd happily settle for Disney to do a traditional hand drawn animated adventure though...
Music by- David Julyan and Explosions In The Sky
Director: David Fincher
Composer: Amanda Palmer
I'd pick Fincher but want to be different so I guess Guy Richie could do an okay job.
Music by the Chemical Brothers.
Christopher Nolan directing+
Daft Punk creating the score
= visual and sonic mindfuckery
Tarantino directing and no one composing. All music from the 1950's. Mainly Doo-Wop.
Director David Lynch - Music by Angelo Badalamenti
That would be just dreamy.
Director: David Fincher or Christopher Nolan
Composer: Trent Reznor or Hans Zimmer
I could never let somebody do either of those things for my book. I'd have to do it all myself so I could adapt my story to movie form however I saw fit. I'm to selfish with my work.
danny boyle and clint mansell
@David- If I had the chance to be able to direct and compose for my novels movie I would definetlydo it all myself, but I doubt that could happen. That's something I've always wondered...say you sell the rights of your story to a company, can you retain the right to have a say in what goes on or are you basically just collecting a paycheck and hoping for the best? and are there examples of authors who have had direct say in the film version?
The zombie Kubric. Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood original soundtrack.
I know Stephen king used to make his own films but id rather he didn't, he was just awful at movies. Maximum overdrive was just wrong on so many levels for him. Personally I would never sell a story to anybody unless we had an understanding that nothing would be done with the story with out me approving then overseeing the project. My one hope is that acting will take off for me or I'll be able to write a story famous enough I'll be able to strong arm who ever wants it into letting me make the movie but that's unlikely.
Directed by: Kevin Smith
Soundtrack by: Clint Black & Pete Yorn
Gaspar Noe & Josh Homme, just the idea makes me wet my pants.
Ridley Scott and Trent Reznor
Josh Homme is a hot ginger.
Charlie Kaufman and I don't know anything about composers, so let's just go with a band I like.
Director: Takishi Mike.
Score: Angelo Badalamenti
Now that would be a fucking trip.
David Fincher and that guy who wrote the songs for Lady and the Tramp.
