Hi,

Forgive my noob questions. I have written a sci-fi novel, entitled KR_IME, and would like to go the conventional publishing route, if possible, with an agent.

Where would I start with finding agents? Do they normally work via email, or snail mail (at least, for the first contact)?

Thanks in advance, and here is a brief synopsis:

In the near future, a breakthrough in propulsion technology allows humankind to undertake the first manned mission to Mars. Such a huge undertaking requires the participation of most of the developed world. Six men, and two women, are selected to make the trip. The crew bond through laughter, tears, and annoying pranks, as the ship tears through space, at record-breaking speeds, towards the Red Planet. Someone on the ship, operating with the handle KR_IME, is making rude and politically-incorrect posts to Twitter. No-one on Earth knows who it is, and the posts keep coming despite rampant speculation and technological efforts by Mission Control to trace the sender.

Meanwhile, tensions on Earth escalate as advanced societies deal with a vast swath of workers who, having been made redundant by robots, prepare to fight back for their jobs by any means necessary.

Once the ship reaches Mars, its beauty and mystery (and that of its main moon, Phobos) are revealed, as true exploration begins. However, a betrayal of staggering proportions is about to take place – one that even the betrayer doesn’t see coming – which prompts the most daring space rescue ever attempted.

agentquery.com would be a good place to start.
