Loser's Bracket First Round will be just like Winner's Bracket Second Round.  Total of three weeks, 2,500 words.  After this round, to accomodate new blood that comes in every two weeks from the winners bracket, Loser's Bracket will run one round per week.  Yes.

Loser's Bracket will run one round per week.

In order to accomplish this, stories for Loser's Bracket will be Super-Flash.  1,200 words.  Prompts will be given at same time on Friday as normal.  Stories will be due at 7 pm CST FOUR DAYS later, which is Tuesday.  Then a three day polling period.

That's what it sounds like. I hope I can get back into the swing of things. It's been an awfully brutal week with my cat dying and everything. I'm totally sad. :(

Brief answers:

First round of losers bracket is just like first round winners bracket. So basically, it's just Round 2. After that we truncate things.

Round 2 starts tonight. Brackets updated, The Big Reveal, prompts dropped, the whole nine yards. Scheduling is a bit hairy this round closure though, because I am with inlaws, AD is with...whomever she spends her time with. So basically, when either of us gets time we're going to start shutting down polls and prepping prompts. No idea when that will be, as I think I'm "spoken for" a good bit of the afternoon/evening. But we are proceeding with dates as scheduled; just bear in mind that we might shut down those polls any time from this moment (not me: I'm at Walmart buying a blender) until late tonight. Get your voting done!

Beka, sorry for your cat. I dread when that will happen to me, what with my 5 cats. But they live shorter than we do, nothing can be done about that.

I hope eventually I'll get this whole bracket thing. But I'm not there yet.

Also, if you guys could do me a favor and cc PM AD and me about any ties that remain to be broken for Round 1, including the BAS poll, I'd really appreciate it. I'll find out for myself pretty soon, but if we know early it'll help budget the time.

Bekanator, I'm sorry about your cat.

When we do the big reveal, can everyone put a little description with their title? Because I may not remember the story just from the title. I had enough trouble remembering the titles when I voted for my favorite of the round. I had to go back and find the story I picked before I voted.

It is spectacular. Glad I didn't bet any money, The people I thought wrote certain storries did not. And other people really impressed me and showed me an entirely new level of skill I haven't seen from them before. War truly does seem to bring out the best!

There is someone in the original war thread that wants in. I didn't know if you had the two missing spots filled for the next round or if we need anymore alternates at all. I told him to come here and say he wants in and see what happens but not sure he is following.

@Sound - if you assumed my story was Emma's, my writing must be getting a lot better.

Poll closed, so i'd like to extend my congrats to Stacy and her well earned victory. It was a crazy close race but in the end, the better story won. I'm still thinking about that image of the wall of Polaroids. Striking and tragically beautiful.

Congrats to all the writers in the first round and I can't wait for Round Two! Don't think of it as the "Losers Bracket". I see it as the "We've Learned From The Loss" grouping. I'm calling it The Snake Pit. A den of pissed off vipers looking to strike. The dive bar where the rough and tumble go to duke it out.

And to finish the analogy, time to get shitfaced.

Congrats again to Stacy!!

Congrats to Utah for going through, better story won, but know three things -

1) The Snake Pit is a brilliant name for the losers bracket

2) War ain't over till the fat lady sings

3) I'm coming to get you!!!! (In a gentlemanly, determined, LitWar kind of way, not physically getting on a plane)

Nik Korpon's was the only one (other than my own competitor) I was pretty certain about. Guessed right on Richard, too. I love not knowing who they are, crazy as it makes me.

And fear not, Utah. It'll only sting for a couple hours. "That's priiiiiide fuckin' witcha," as Marsellus Wallace would say. Though I'm not sure who's Butch and who's Marsellus in this scenario, who's getting The Gimp and who's getting got by Zed.
