Having recently moved to the States from Australia (and I lived in Canada for 5 months prior to the move), I can say the "You Americans" thing is quite unfair. And one I hope that has just been made as an off the cuff, flippant, or even satirical comment. This country is fucking HUGE. For every Romeny voting, black and gay hating person I've met here, I've met just as many intelligent, articulate, friendly and kind-hearted people. The thing with America is, it's just so fucking big. You get the best of humans, and the worst of humans.
Whenever I get exasperated by a bigot in this country, first off I try to remember the people I've met through litreactor. Intelligent, erudite, inspirational people., who are kicking my ass in this world of writing I've joined. People that have been amazing friends to me, not just in providing writing help that my "regular" friends and family couldn't provide, but when I've needed to talk, or had a crisis, these people have always been the first to help. And these people are Americans!
Now. Back to everyone talking about killing each other in WAR!
