I'm not much of a dog person.
@Leah: I've accepted your friend request! Here's to meeting in the final battle!
I'm so pumped that I'm just going to toot my own horn for my sake, and to scare the shit out of Gordon.
This WAR has been even more a riot than the previous one. I got really down on myself after losing the first matchup, but I'm quite glad now that Closure tossed me into the PIT all those months ago. Since then I've made the 1200 word count limit my bitch, and I'm the only person in the PIT who's stuck it out since the beginning. I've written EIGHT stories so far, and I'm hoping that I can make it far enough and write the total eleven stories and write the most stories EVAR in four months, but we'll see, I guess.
How's, uh...how's it going, Gordon?
Bekanator

Bekanator
from Kamloops, British Columbia is reading Ugly Girls by Lindsay HunterFebruary 7, 2013 - 10:42am
It's the best part of WAR, is the pressure to have a story by every deadline. Sadly, in WAR1, that pressure faded once the war was over. I took a break and then spent a month editing my stories to perfection. This time around I'm really hoping to keep up the drive, because you can get so much shit done around your job and house chores and whatnot. It's not even that stressful once you've got a handle on it.
BTW, I just listened to your Books & Booze episode the other day. Loved it!

I've been in the PIT since the second round, but Bek you are the OG. If you take it all, I recommend you get yourself a 3 finger gold ring that says PIT. It'll go nice with the crown.

Hi people, me again. I've been gone since getting bumped out. I'm back to ask, and forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere, but is a WAR 3 picking up shortly after this one's settled? I've got a hankering, and I don't just use that word lightly. I can't just write because I like to have stories. I need a reason to sit down and do it. Competition gets me going and being in WAR gave me what I needed to write a good little volume of short stories. I miss that drive.
I do have a Teleport Us story in the works.

Hey Tom - deep breathing now! ;-) There are always prompts and challenges available around to those that want them. Have a crack at this if you want something to keep you busy. You got the Teleport Me competition already. Plus, as Jeffrey pointed out, once WAR is done you could call out a couple of thunderdome battles.
Bekanator
from Kamloops, British Columbia is reading Ugly Girls by Lindsay HunterFebruary 10, 2013 - 9:22am
WAR is a pretty huge undertaking for Jessica and Utah. It's been going on for four months and there's barely anybody voting on the remaining rounds now. Can you imagine if the Olympics was a year-round thing? Nobody would watch it. And Jessica would probably be sending us all mail bombs for constantly asking her to set up BAS polls every day.
There's tons of stuff going on at LR. And there's always the Workshop, which usually dies down pretty bad when WAR is going on. I'm sure there's plenty of stories begging for reviews in there. Reading always inspires writing, and we're all writers here.

I agree, Richard, although I won't lie that double-elimation is awesome. I like the mix of longer and shorter stories. Keeps you constantly on edge. It'd just be nice if more people were interested in reading the stories, though, because they're only getting better.
The bible verse prompts really incited an interesting batch of stories this time round. Hired belly dancer killers and fantasy land trials, love-struck mermaids AND prostitues of semi-fame? Where else are you gonna find all that?
