Oh man, I feel like I have a target on my head!!
Ian, one of us MUST WIN apparently. So....let's get on that.
(How much would if fuck with things if I told you I was from Romania?)
(I'm not...)
(But sometimes I think Jersey counts as its own country...)
(As does South Carolina, the rural bits of which look like they're literally stuck in the 30s...)
(I'm having a conversation with myself now...)

Somebody's gotta win.
Or it could be one of those "In WAR, we all lose"-kind of things.
Yes: better a moral than a victory. Death to all.

That is awesome. Also, The Band with the exception of Levon Helm was Canadian. And nobody has or ever will write a better song about one man's perspective on the Civil War than Robbie Robertson.

JY - I would agree. Robbie, especially. He played it up for the camera. Still, those performances were pretty legendary. I was lucky enough to see Levon a few times (even at his barn) before he passed on. His voice was beat towards the end but when he had his moment, he put everything he had into delivering his lines and it was truly one of those skin crawling moments watching him. I also have the pleasure of having some loose acquaintences who recorded with and became friends with Levon and said he was such a genuine, down-to-earth, generous human being.
Also, when you go to his barn, it would be a potluck with everyone bringing snacks. You'd have to wait in lines to go to the bathroom which was just meant to be a regular bathroom - a toilet, sink, and shower. While you waited in line, there's levon's grammy in a glass enclosed shelf. Kinda cool.
As a bassist - Danko is one of my musical heroes.
Leah - it's fiction. Which is awesome, you get to make things up. Soon it will just be accepted as truth. Which is also exciting as the writer of that fiction.

It's a benefit of living up this way - Levon's barn is probably just under 4 hours west of Boston, a very easy overnight trip. His Rambles were about a 150 a ticket, but if you were lucky, you'd catch a band you liked opening up. For me, I saw the Drive-By Truckers who I'm a huge fan for. The scene was so laid back since it was on his property. After DBT, the band would just be wandering around. It was BYOB, so I went out for more beer and there's the keyboard player throwing rocks into a pond for Levon's dog. It was just a surreal scene.

What's up, Chris? I thought you said The Pit was "nice" and "comfortable" and "not crowded"? It smells like a pig farm in here. And isn't all of this lava dangerous? Jesus, I can barely stand up in here what with the rocking back and forth and the sharp rocks all over the place. Hey... Why do you have a bayonet on your shotgun? Bayonets are supposed to go on assault rifles, like M-16s. You might as well just put one on your pistol or duct-tape one to that grenade you've got there. Wait... Why do you have a shotgun and a pistol and a bunch of grenades? I thought we were going to talk about using first-person plural effectively in long fiction or whether second person really is "soooooo weird"? Is that paint, Chris? Red paint all over your midnight black tactical gear? Oh shit...
