Yeah, those are the seeds. I put what I got in Excel and made an average of everyone's numbers. Then I bumped the ringers that Richard brought in because, well, they're in Warmed and Bound and In Search of a City and all that, so it seemed realistic.

I get the feeling Mr. Korpon won't be an alternate for long. I've gotta do participation confirmations pretty soon, and there will probably be some attrition. It'll just be odd if we have to slide him in as a 7 seed or something. Because that could make him my first matchup. And that could be weird.

NEW OLD IDEA
There is interest being expressed in the idea of making this tournament double-elimination, where losers are cycled into a resurrection bracket and given the opportunity to come back. This was an idea I was going to push if we had 16 contestants, but I put it away when we got 32. However, if enough of you would rather we pursue the tournament that way (which would add 1 - 2 rounds and make the tournament 12-14 weeks instead of 10), then let me know. It would only take me a few minutes this evening to create that bracket system.
Your thoughts?

Richard

i say no. let's not make this too crazy, it's a lot going on as it is. i mean, we have to read 32 stories in the first week. then 16, etc. it's a big commitment.
crap, was hoping nik wouldn't get wind of this. :-)

And to be up front with everybody, I lean toward no as well. At this point it's very straightforward and relatively sleek. It would be best to keep it as streamlined as possible. My thought and preference is that we start the next one in say, 3-6 months, add more complexity or whatever then.
But still, if it turns out a majority of us want the double-elimination, we'll do it. WAR is all about you guys, so tell me what makes you happy. I'm just the old, sad hooker in this taxi.
