I've also been trying to figure out whose story is whose, to no avail... with the exception of one. I'm pretty sure of that one.

Impact of the story is a good way to put it. Kinda ties in a bunch of stuff: readability, flow, pace, twangs, conflicts and their resolution, overall creativity, et all - you name it
As for iding who wrote what. I am at a loss.

personally i didn't change my writing one bit. the point of the competition is write a good story and my writing is pretty damn easy to spot. a blessing and a curse i suppose. this is fun. i can't wait to see who wrote what. but im pretty sure that if someone guessed a story is mine then they've probably read a story i wrote and know my methods. i don't really see this as a bad thing or a good thing.
anyhow i'm through 1-7. i thought there were some pretty close ones for sure. makes you question what you think a good story is and isn't. like if the writing isn't as smooth but the content is more ambitious ... sometimes it's a difficult call.
anyhow, i appreciate being invited to participate :)

I'm terrible at picking out writing styles, so I haven't been able to pick out who wrote what. I've been enjoying this so far. For the most part I was surprised with the stories I ended up voting for. We will end up finding out who the writers are after the voting is up, right?

But then I made this post for fun.

There's so many I just read. One in particular kinda made me think of you, but the content was different, plus it was posed against another writer I think I might recognize, and you're not against that person yet. How fucking vague can I be with this conversation! ha ha ha.
Americantypo

I'd like to think mine won't be obvious as far as style, because I'm not used to such a short word count and that really forced me to write differently. But we'll see.

@covewriter - Well actually, any member can vote. Hopefully they read both stories before doing so, but the voting isn't limited to the war participants. Any workshop member can read and vote, so it's not over until the poll is closed at the end of the week. that and we know who your opponent is because it's in the bracket. Telling us the voting scores just tells us which stories they are...
@danny - just think of it as one less body to have to step over on your way to the mug of champions.

I read through a bunch so quickly though and I haven't read everyone before. I based my votes off of a) prose b) story, nothin else. It seems like a lot of people really stepped up their game.

It's pretty cool that not a SINGLE story is winning by a landslide. Looks like both writers brought their A-game. I know I sure as hell busted my ass. To all the heavy hitters participating- this is only gonna get harder! I guess that's why they call it WAR.
