I feel the same way, Avery. Some of the stories are vastly different from each other, despite originating from the same prompt.
I was worried that I wouldn't be able to send my story in today, though. Spent over half of it hungover. But I got my story done, and now I get to enjoy the rest of it reading.

Okay all, before I hit the hay for an early morning, I just wanted to tell you how impressed and elated I am that you guys came through. This was a helluva turnout. I know some of you were stretched pretty thin and wound up maybe producing something you weren't necessarily proud of for one reason or another, but it's saying something that you were still willing to burn the oil and lay it on the line here at the end of the week. To pull something like this off and have only one no-show is pretty fucking impressive.

In response to comments in the other polls- I agree. We should probably withhold comments until all the votes are in just so there's no hint as to who DIDN'T write the stories, and therefore hinting at who did.
I also agree that there are some tough choices to make. A few that I voted on ended up being the majority but there was one or two I picked where I had chosen the less favored story.
We should all be very proud to have written a story in a week flat. That's tough to do with jobs and life and whatever else gets in the way of writing. I know I def slept less this week on account of writing before, after, and in between shifts at my job. Hopefully these writing habits will continue long after the tournament is done.

On one level I understand not posting on the polls. It could very well work against anonymnity.
On another level I wouldn't want to see all the polls vanish to the nether before people saw them, so I admit that posting on them is helpful in some respects..
But again, you couldn't just post on everyone else's story, then we can all see "well, they seem oddly unbiased and unmoved by these stories compared to the others, it's probably because they wrote one of them and even though they are trying to play it opposite it's actually pretty easy to tell."
-From the desk of the lunatic who was worried that the distinct nature of his "voice" would be a dead giveaway for which story he wrote. Take my concerns as seriously as you need to, or on the other hand, please don't take my concerns seriously.

That's the other thing. In a couple of the matches I've read, I have been fairly confident I have guessed who I am reading.
And I don't think it takes rocket science to work out which one is mine.

1) The overall impact of the story.
2) How well it makes use of the prompt.
