And, talkin shit. What happened to that?
I'll start: S.P., how's the story coming? Mine's like gold bathed in Swedish choclate, platinum sprinkles, and a cherried blue diamond on top.
I dare someone to come up with worse. :-)
Oh, dude, my story could so kick your story's butt after school. I mean, fo realz.
Seriously, though, it's actually goin' fantabulariously spectaculawesome. I knew a kick-ass prompt like that would spark something special.
I think a lunar eclipse is in the cards. ;)
Lunar eclipse. Nice. But you're mistaken. Youre thinking of a solar eclipse.
Agreed about the prompt. Seriously, there are so many places I wanna take my story. I really really like it. Win or lose I'm definitely gonna continue with it. So that right there is a win.
See? Thunderdome loves everyone.
Bill, if you're leaving it up to me, I'll vote for 2.5k-3k. You'd have me at a real disadvantage in a flash contest; I've always struggled with being that brief in prose. The timeline is fine by me.
Word count, anyone?
The verbal assault between Strang(er) Photon and Walking on the Moon makes this whole thread a bit more interesting...
You should have been here a few years ago if you think this is a verbal assault.
Don't press your luck, Dwayne, or I'll be inspired to wear your skin like a rain coat.
But yeah, those were good times. ;)
(And of course I'm kidding, Dwayne... this time.)
Yeah, Holly. That ain't nothing.
And I'm good with a 3k limit with no minimum, Nathan.
Let the battle begin! Good luck!
Oh, Boys. Don't let me stop you. I may be a girl, and look like a girly-girl, but I can assure you that it takes a LOT to shock me.
I will say the prompt for Nathan and Bill is quite intriguing...But I LOVE the one of Steve McQueen!
So, who can make something structured with all the data and battles.
I'd like to do another one when the current Battle is finished.
Strange, your threats are so passe. You're not even in the first 10 people to threaten me with stuff Edward Gein did. You can do better! And you start any real shit I'll fist you in your urethra.
How did you know my cock is big enough to take a fist in the urethra? Are you a peeping tom?
And on another note, if there's a line of people wanting to skin you, that might tell you something. Tells me something, that's for sure.
Tells me you gots reel purty skin, boah...
*banjo strings pluck in the distance*
On a serious note, R.Moon has gone missing from his home on Saturday, 5/30/15. A link has been posted under the Forum about this. Should anyone live in Pittsburg and/or know people in the area, please circulate. Many thanks.
I would humbly ask for a 72 hour extension on the deadline. I haven't even had the opportunity to start writing due to a bunch of chaos, and I forgot I have a master's class all weekend, so things are tight. I won't be offended if you want to keep the original deadline, but you won't be facing my best, so I thought I'd ask. Let me know.
As per Tucson's request, here's a breakdown of what's current and upcoming...
Sound vs. Voodoo_Em (monk and transvestite prompt) to be posted around June 2nd
Sound vs. Holly (Steve McQueen prompt) to be posted around June 6th
Nathan vs. Tucker (bloody girl prompt) to be posted around June 8th
If anyone would like to engage me on the field of battle, I'm looking to destroy something beautiful. And Moon, if you come back and want to carry on with our hitch hiker chick prompt, I'm good to go when you are, buddy.
I'll take you up, if you don't mind, Mr. Photon.
Sounds good to me. Let's dance.
I'm down with that extension, Nathan. I haven't put a second of thought into this for the same reasons. I'm actually covering X Games this weekend for a blog I write for, so unless I spin gold over the next couple of days, I'm going to be behind the eight ball.
In fact, if you're good with just pushing the deadline until next week so we can both focus on our commitments, I'd be perfectly fine with that. Doing well in your masters class is more important and it'll be hard for me to focus with a weekend of skateboarders and Metallica blaring in the background.
@Sound: can we extend our deadline as well? I just finished a submission for an anthology and although it was erotica, it has left me a bit drained creatively. Would that be cool with you? Pretty please??
Hopefully the sound v's voodoo_em battle (rematch!!) should be up soon :)
*bitterly drunken slurring*
Me an' Flagstaff needs us a mudda fuggin' prompped, beeches...
I posted a couple recently so I'll let someone else get this one.
@Em_I'll post our battle when I get home later today. I'm 99.9% sure I've lost this one.
@Holly_Sure! I need the extra time as well.
Great minds think alike, Sound! Since you just finished a story, feel free to let me know when works for you. We can stretch this out to next Sunday or a bit longer. I just didn't want you to think I was flaking. I'm excited to work on my short story prowess, and to read what you come up with given the cool-ass prompt @Strange Photon assigned us.
Sounds good, Bill.
Did I read that right? You need a prompt? Okay. Here you go, this is a pic of a boy standing in front of a spider clown. Go!
Wow... trippy. Guess we're on the clock now, Tucson. How does no less than 2500, and no more than 4000 words sound?
And how about drafts done by 6-15? It sounds longer than usual because I'm going to be traveling next week for a few days, so even though I will hopefully still have time to work on my story, if I don't, I don't want to flake on you and push things back at the last minute.
Is that cool?
(and thanks, Dwayne - I was beginning to think no one was gonna prompt us)
You are welcome. I've been wanting to use that one for months now.
Alright, 6-15 sounds ok.Wordcount is fine by me. What a prompt. :D
Re: Tucson v. Strange Photon's prompt: Wow.
Great, Nathan. How does next Friday the 12th sound for you? Same midnight deadline.
Holly was that a good or a bad wow?
Alrighty, we just had a close to one of the best battles I've seen. Congrats to VooDoo_Em with the very hard-fought victory, and to Sound for putting up one hell of a fight. Those stories were fantastic.
There are a few battles looming on th horizon...
Nathan vs Bill - should post @ Friday (bloody girl prompt)
Holly vs Sound - should post at some point yet to be decided (McQueen prompt)
My lovely self vs Tucson - should post @ next Monday (Spiderclown prompt)
If any of this is incorrect, let me know and I can edit it. Also, there's ALWAYS room for more, people to battle. So, don't be shy!!!
(Moonraker... if you're reading this, I'm still eager for our battle. I'm always ready when you are. Just say the word.)
@Holly - Sorry, somehow missed that you had asked for a new deadline. How about this Sunday? That way we can post sometime Monday. Or you can propose another time.
How's it coming, Bill? I'm putting the finishing touches on this thing, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm looking forward to reading your entry.
@Dwayne: "wow" was the only word that came to mind. It's based on my fear of clowns mixed with "How did Dwayne ever think of such a prompt?"
@Sound: Can we shoot for next Sunday? Range of 2500-4000 words?
@Holly - That works too!
@Sound: Cool! Good luck!
Soooo, I'm about to be Mr. Disappointment on this lovely Friday. I've got nothing. Not a single word. No excuses, no nothing. I just couldn't get it done and I'm beyond sick about it. My only consolation is Nathan now has what's probably a killer story but it stinks to have it go against nothing. I know the feeling.
I'm not sure how to handle this as I don't feel right asking for an extension, as we've already done one. I just ran out of hours in the day to focus on it and come up with something worthy of a fight.
So, to Nathan and the organizers, let me know how you want to handle this. I totally understand if I'm deined the right to compete again and I'm beyond sorry about this.
Denied the right to compete? You seem to think this is more organized than it is. I have a story done, and that's pretty neat either way.
So here are the options as I see them.
A) I can wait for you, which is fine by me, if you still want to compete. I was the one to ask for the first extension. Let me know when you think you can have something done.
B) You can choose to back out, which isn't going to get any shaming from me. This is the first thing I've written in a while, so I know what it's like to get stuck, and I don't want you to stress out about getting a story if it's just not working.
B1) If you'd like to back out, then I'm happy taking on another challenger for the same prompt. I'm basically done with my story and won't be doing too much extra work on it, so if Bill's wanting to forfeit, I'll give a new competitor as long as he/she wants to write something up.
So Bill, it's really up to you. Let me know. Don't feel bad or anything.
@Holly - I was just thinking of scary things I could put together. People are scared of spiders and clowns so WHAM! Seemed like a winner for a scary idea. I have been trying to think what to do with it.
I'd be willing to be that other challenger, since I loved that prompt, and have been thinking of ideas since then. No words yet, though. If Bill backs out that is. I'll happily wait on the sidelines untill then. :)
Thanks, Nathan. And yeah, I may have been being dramatic but I hate missing deadlines.
So, yeah, I'd to keep on keeping on. Let me figure out my schedule tomorrow and I'll let you know. This time around I'll schedule time to get this done.
Thanks again, man!
I'd like to ask for a two day extension. If you don't mind?
Nathan, I took a look at the schedule for this week and it looks like I'm just going to have to pass on the contest. Sound, if you have a bad ass idea for the prompt, feel free to take it on.
Sorry again but I look forward to reading what you came up with!
Nah, I don't mind, Tucson. Just go ahead and email it to me whenever you can and we'll go from there.
No worries, Bill.
You still up for this, Sound?
