Anyone follow pro-cycling? I've been in a hole this year and missed out on all the big races and drama, but I'm tuning into TDF, because it's my yearly birthday present to myself.

Anyone want to talk about it?

Mark Cavendish is a dish. :-) Watched it obsessively last year and Contador let me down, I rooted for him because Henry was rooting for the Schleck brothers, no Andy or Alberto this year.  My daughters were in France last summer during the race and didn't even get me a t-shirt, ingrates.

I'm sure once Wimbledon has finished the race will be on in the background of my life full force and I will find someone to root for, who do you like Renee?

Oh, man. Contador is a fucking dick! I'm so glad he had to forfeit the win he basically stole from Andy Schleck. Very disappointed that Andy won't be here to defend his newfound title. I missed out on a lot of cycling this year, so I am kind of up in the air as to who I am really pulling for. I'd like to see Cavendish win, but I was reading that he isn't the team leader for Sky this year, so it isn't likely. I'll probably root for Team Radioshack because habits are hard to break.

I didn't know the olympics were happening until I looked at my coke can.

TDF isn't the Olympics. If these guys want to be in the Olympics they have to drop out of the Tour early. It's a thing.

What performance enhancing drugs are the cyclists using this year?

Oh, it's always the same one. Blood doping. Epitestosterone. I was just lamenting to Husband that I know more about doping and the USADA/WADA system than how the Tour actually works. Sigh.

But cycling is still the only pro sport I follow. I like the evolution of tour racing. They used to be allowed to hit each other with shit and lay nails down on the routes! Now, aside from the cheating, it is a very polite sport. One of the reasons I said Contador was a fucking dick. He broke etiquette the year before last--by the rules, what he did was absolutely fine, but by tour etiquette, he enraged a lot of people and many felt he didn't deserve the Yellow Jersey because he passed on Schleck while Schleck was having a mechanical malfunction (and won by exactly the amount of time he gained by doing so). But then he tested positive and lost the jersey anyway. Poetic justice.

And there's always drama. Dreams come true, dreams (and bones) are smashed, rivalries are born and acted out on the route...it's great. A month long, action packed drama.
