Brilliant! What artist, Dave Devries is doing with children's drwaings though his progect The Monster Engine is so damn awesome.

What children’s drawings would look like if it were painted realistically.

that's some cool stuff right there - Tim Burtonesque - a little creepy, a little cutesy, with a touch of darkness (minus Johnny Depp).

Cool idea, a little creepy though. I find childrens cartoons these days to be extremely disturbing. I know Yo Gabba Gabba isn't a cartoon, but that's the creepiest show I have ever seen. I watched it once at my friends house while his kids watched it. I went home and took a shower afterwards. Felt like I had been slimed by Slimer.

They made me sad.  Especially the super hero ones.  I hope the kids didn't see them.  In their minds, they probably didn't look anything like that....

If you follow the links and read about his project you will see that he is doing this in collaboration with the children. They set down together and talk about it first. What's there to be sad about? I don't understand.

I imagine it is one helluva fun experience and very exciting for the kids to see their monster "come to life".

Just me.  Nothing to worry about.  It's just the superhero one.  It looks just like the kid's drawing.  I mean, it looks just like it.  no?  Just me?  Okay.

I get what you mean. They probably only asked kids who are into monsters and would be into the freaky results though.

Might be off topic and I posted this on the cult a long time ago... but this really reminds me of these people who turn children's drawings into toys for them.
