Hi,

I'm trying to get a better idea of the quality and style of contemporary short fiction (general/literary) around the world. So what are the leading journals in your state/country/region? Give me links to stuff I can read for free online!

I'm from Melbourne Australia. Some of our more popular journals include: Overland (blergh), The Lifted Brow (trendy wank), Kill Your Darling (shrug).

(Abysmal gap in the genre industry but let's leave genre aside for the time being. (On second thoughts I will give a shout out to Midnight Echo and Aurealis.) heh)

I actually haven't found any luck with zines. (Bare in mind this was before I came to prefer writing non-genre fiction.)

So I'm all ears for litfic zines too. Doubleplus good if it's a Children's zine.

Word Riot and Pank usually deliver. Juked is good too. There are a lot of online places that are legit.
