I have been working really hard and living in this stress filled bubble for far too long. I think it is time for me to reward myself. I want to fly somewhere for a weekend, but I can't decide where to go. I would like to be able to just go to a nice city and find a reading or a conference of an author that I like, but it is difficult to find information on author tours, etc.

I had considered waiting until March to go down to D.C. for a weekend during the "Reason Rally" to hear Richard Dawkins and many others speak. This may still be my final plan, but I'm looking for more ideas.

Any thoughts? Any authors worth chasing down? Any writer's retreate locations worth renting for a short period? Anything at all? Of course, currently, I have no one to share my interests with, so it won't be quite as fun, but...

Please give me a little help here.

If I were to truly reward myself with a trip it would involve a solo trip o the middle of nowhere. To each their own. Good luck!

Richard Dawkins would be a great one. Or you could go to AWP in Chicago.

I would've suggested AWP as well, but apparently is sold out.
