So here is the idea: if you feel like you could use a real-life version of writers workshop, let's see which LitReactor buddies live near to you! My personal reason for which I am looking for local workshop buddies is that I don't have enough time for this Web-community, and unfortunately that will prohibit me from achieving the full potential of this community. So, a real-life workshop buddy would work for me much better at this life situation than what I can achieve here.

I am from Helsinki area, let me know (PM) if you are interested ;)

EDIT: Fixed the choice of words.

What an odd post. What do you mean? Why would meatspace workshopping take less time than this? Are you sad because you feel unpopular in some way? Maybe I'm misreading what you posted. Either way, I only stumbled in here looking for writer dates. My wife frowns on me dating outside of marriage, and is violently homicidal, but, you know... #yolo and junk

Ahti, I did not notice that you were unpopular here. I don't know why you say that but on any kind of forums, sooner or later, everyone gets their turn to get sideways with someone or a few someones. Maybe you would consider just starting over.

If you want to start an in-person group, maybe some ads in your area would help. Good luck with it.

In the workshop, we treat everyone equally.  There is no popularity in the workshop.  Put up a story and get a critical response based on the work, not on who you are.  It's a skill-based community.

The forums are about expressing ideas and being friendly while talking about writing.  Popularity does count on the forums.

If you read the essays about writing in the essay seciton and critique well, nobody here will give a shit about your personality when it comes to the workshop section.  Not a bit.  As long as you are good at reviews, you'll get lots of reviews in return.

Actually I didn't mean I am unpopular, it's just that I would get more out of this if I had more time to spend on the community side as well!

I would see real-life workshopping much more effective and there would be a stronger personal ties with it, which I would see as an upside also.

Oh, sorry. Translation problem there, I guess. Do you have meetup.com there? I found a writing group through that once (in the US).

I could one through Meetup, as well. It was in Kansas City, though.

Well it's no fun if you go back and edit your post. Sheesh.

I think that most of us are too spread out to make meeting on the reg. Practical. I know a few of us live in Kentucky, and a few in the NYC area, but other then that we spread out the the four corners. I say that and watch him reply from a meeitng of four people in his town.

I think Howie is mostly right. Reviews are way more skill based then anything else.
