I have a few ideas for stories in my mind that I feel I desperately need to get out.
It's all been bubbling up inside me for quite sometime, but I only like to do one story at a time. I just work better that way.
I don't know which one to start.
How do I pick?
Help?!
sit down and go
write the one that speaks to you the most, the one you're most excited to get to, the one you can see best, the one you know the best. good luck!
I'm not the type - or I have yet to develop the ability - to effectively switch off working between two or more stories simultaneously. While I labor over one, I take numerous notes and plot points, character qualities, dialogue bits, and other random flashes of inspiration that I feel would fit with my ideas for other stories. So, by the time I have finished one I have a considerable yet still obviously rough outline of where I would then be taking this new story.
Do the one you know you can actually finish.
Maybe just get started on the one you like best, see what happens.
Which one would you like to read the most if it was finished?
I often work on two projects. Often if I can't think of anything for one, than I work on the second one. Then often I'll find a solution to the first story while working on the second one. Let the ideas come to you, don't force them.
I'm all for hands-on experience with everything, so if I were you, I'd pick any story I felt like writing most. If it doesn't work out--well, it doesn't. I'll only know if I try. But everyone's process is different, so it's all up to you in the end.
Jot down reminders for the stories, then pick which one that calls loudest.
Stick to one story, and write it down when it comes to you. I found in my beginning writing days, I constantly switched between different projects.
