"El Mirador"
"Headcase"
"Where All Roads Meet"
"In the Arms of Lachiga"
"Touching from a Distance"
"We'll Own the Stars"
"War Dogs"
"Moonbound"
"To Meet the Light"
"An Apocalypse of Her Own, One Day"
Most of the following stories first appeared elsewhere, in some form or another, and as such I owe each of their respective editors a debt of gratitude: "In the Arms of Lachiga," from which this book gets its title, was originally published in Heir Apparent: Digital Science Fiction Anthology 4—my first professional fiction sale—and received editorial comments from Christine Clukey, who helped make the piece far better than I ever could have on my own; "El Mirador" appeared in the first volume of Thomas K. Carpenter's Mirror Shards augmented-reality anthology series, from Black Moon Books, while "An Apocalypse of Her Own, One Day" was published in the series' second volume; "Headcase" and "Touching from a Distance" both appeared in Matt Edginton's The Glass Parachute, an anthology of science fiction stories from Villipede Publications; "We'll Own the Stars" can be found online at Villipede's website; "Moonbound" was also first published online, at Michael Paul Gonzalez's superb electronic magazine ThunderDome; the remaining three stories, "Where All Roads Meet," "War Dogs," and "To Meet the Light" have never been published elsewhere.
The four-story arc beginning with "Headcase" and ending with "Touching from a Distance" is something I've referred to over the past couple years as my "Lachiga continuity," for lack of a better term, and began with the titular "In the Arms of Lachiga"—my first foray into the somewhat nebulous but fertile ground of postcyberpunk literature.
I hope you'll find, as I did, that there's still plenty to be explored in the realms of virtual reality, augmented reality, and both trans- and posthumanism.

Just got my short story, "Beyond the Eye," accepted by Pantheon Magazine for their "Artemis" edition. This one's special to me 'cause I wrote it a year ago, making it the first short I'd written in over ten years. I've gotten other stuff published since, but this one was the kick-starter, and I'm proud it now has a home.

Thanks, Sound. It wasn't so much a stab as it was me starting over as a writer, and that was my first fumbling step with a very unfamiliar but more evolved voice. Of course it's gone through a billion revisions since, and I can even see objectively how much I've improved over this last year, mainly thanks to Litreactor and all the collective input and criticism from writers like yourself.

Not everyone will be able or willing to go along with Jourdon on his winding path of textual composition. As a musician, translator, writer, and founder of an online creative writing workshop and literary journal—called LitReactor—Jourdon is a naturally scatterbrained creative force, and many modern readers, myself included, are far more partial to straightforward narrative adventures. But Jourdon’s work is still fascinating and hypnotic, and the way he incorporates early-20th century experimentalism into a modern day setting makes What Precision, Such Restraint a perfect fit for this month’s groundbreaking book entry.
