Has anyone here used a professional novel manuscript consultation/critique service they would recommend?
I'm looking for comprehensive one-on-one feedback from a qualified professional for a final revision (not proofreading for typos or errors).
Hi szainabwilliams...in addition to the pm I sent, if you've got cash to spend and are looking for a professional to read the manuscript, one avenue you could try is finding an experienced editor through a recognized professional organization. In Canada, I have used the Editor's Association of Canada to hire a pro before and it worked out very well: http://www.editors.ca/hire/index.html
So maybe if you found the equivalent organization in the states? Using an organization like this is at least one way to make sure you are getting a pro with credentials and experience.
Do you know if you want just a copyedit, or also a stylistic, and/or substantive edit? This is the type of question the editor might ask in order to provide a quote.
Erin Reel, who has had a lot of involvement here at LitReactor, does this. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for but here is her site http://thelitcoach.com/ If you want to know a little more about her thoughts on things, consider looking at the archive of her advice column Ask the Lit Coach.
