When I was around 15 (1986) I recall reading a book that I've been trying to remember for years now and hoping someone might be able to help. I'm very vague on details but here goes. I think the title possibly had words like 'crown', 'ruby' or maybe 'queen' in it. The plot focused on a young girl trying to get some jewel back (I think!) And I'm pretty sure it was set in the UK. The book cover at the time was perhaps a ruby/red colouring and pretty sure it had a picture of a young girl with short curly reddish hair and possibly a picture of a crown too.
I'm be so appreciative if anyone remembers this book - it's literally been knawing at me for some years now.
man I get the feeling that I'm a little bit older than most of the folks on this site, but this talking about jewelry reminds me of the Steven King jewelry set that they got going on. I'm a guy but some of this stuff is pretty manly for jewelry and I wouldnt mind wearing any of it. The thing is I'm kind of cheap, the copon cutter kind of guy, never go out to a restaurant and stock up on food from the grocery store for weeks on end.
is it The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott?
