@Alex It's my first Scalzi book, though I've been following his blog for a few years. Go figure. I really like it so far—more, actually, than Terry Pratchett's stuff, which is similar.
I love "Schlug". It sounds like Sean Connery saying "slug".
My friend's wife is half Scottish, half Japanese. She's fantastic and crazy. Talks like an American, though.

Chatted with him briefly at the Tor Books party last month, and he seems like a great guy. I think he may have been even more intoxicated than I was.

Zeus is closer to my style of naming. Mythological or from folk tales/stories (Merlin?). I tried out every name so far on the dog, and it just doesn't fit him. I'm usually good at naming things (well, nicknaming things), but I'm really fucked on this one.

I love long names, but I keep getting flak for suggesting them. I wanted Rufus T. Firefly, but my cousin has a cat named Rufus. Puck is winning so far.
(Odin or Wednesday were tried out on the dog, but he didn't seem to respond. Loki is too chaotic to name a puppy and expect him not to be a monster.)
