In a month or so, my short story “Petra”, will be published in First Stop Fiction. It will be my first published work. Here’s what the editor had to say about my story:

“Dear Matthew,

Thanks for sending this piece our way. It's good stuff. The exploration of cold, that magical realism seeming almost plausible with the mysteries of water under ice. . . sheesh! We'd like to run this story.

Thanks again! Vivid piece.”

Apart from mispelling my name, I'm pretty fucking psyched. Thanks to all who reviewed my story and gave me great suggestions. Special thanks to Bryan Howie, Voodoo_Em, Jonathan Riley, JY, Tophertine, and Sean.

Woohoo!

I submitted a revised copy of the shorter version. I still plan on revising the complete, full-length version. I'd probably try submitting that to a few places as a reprint, or however that would look like. Not sure how that would work.

Congratulations!!!! My first one started with how many and how high quality their submissions had been getting and I almost stopped reading before I got to the part where they wanted mine, haha. I like yours better, straight and to the point with how awesome you are!

Although yours must have given you a major ego boost once you realized yours was considered uber high quality. I probably would've stopped reading too. I'd gotten a few that began with, "We think it's good and very well written, BUT....."

@Em: Thanks, I will. I was going to last week, but decided everyone would be too busy reading the WAR stories. I'll try to fit it in somewhere when things slow down a bit.

@Richard: Thanks. Oh, I intend to. I'll be the biggest slut of all.
