How are you and yours doing (If you want/need to talk about your kids, family, day job, and daily grind use this question)?

What are you reading? How is it?

What uncommon writing tools, websites, and what not are you using? How are they helping you?

What other music, shows, movies, or various media are you into? How are they?

What are you writing, writing related activities, and/or editing? How is that going?

Do you have any other creative projects in other formats?

Why aren't you getting more done with it (in general, not this very second)?

Is that just an excuse?

Really?

Anything you know and want to share with us?

Feel free to ask me a reasonable question(s), I just won't answer my own if you repeat them back or re-word them.

What are you reading? How is it?

Nothing really, picked up Rare Earth (nonfiction) just to get to sleep. Finished Unwind series though in 7 days not too long ago... SO good. New favorite ever.

What uncommon writing tools, websites, and what not are you using? How are they helping you?

Sometimes I ask my 12 year old for random ideas with only a basic idea of what's going on. She's suprisingly good at coming up with something that works, or sparks an idea that will work.

What other music, shows, movies, or various media are you into? How are they?

GoT's still going... Been watching a lot of 8 out of 10 cats on youtube at work. I do love those Brits and their humour...

What are you writing, writing related activities, and/or editing? How is that going?

Same! Great until two days ago.

Do you have any other creative projects in other formats?

Nope.

Why aren't you getting more done with it (in general, not this very second)?

Hit a wall.

Is that just an excuse?

I'll get past it.

Really?

Fuckin' better...

At one point in the N64 Goldeneye games' development, reloading your weapon was gonig to require taking out the controller's rumble pack to simulate dropping a gun magazine.

Also, in MS word if you hold control you can use arrows to move about whole words, or paragraphs, at a time. Delete entire words at a time, ctrl+end takes you to the end of the entire document... Check it out!

Feel free to ask me a reasonable question(s), I just won't answer my own if you repeat them back or re-word them.

Do you believe in reincarnation?

How are you and yours doing (If you want/need to talk about your kids, family, day job, and daily grind use this question)?

I'm doing fine. Although I'm not sure whether I'm in the right job field. My mother's not so well, since she's having problems with my sister. But she's coping.

What are you reading? How is it?

I just finished Stefan Zweig's Beware of Pity and I liked it so much I need some time to get over it.

What uncommon writing tools, websites, and what not are you using? How are they helping you?

I bought an iPad with a matching keyboard. Previously I wrote by hand (pencil and moleskine) but I felt my thoughts ran faster than my hand. The iPad is a great way of coping with this. It's so partable.

No other tools, websites or things are helping me right now.

What other music, shows, movies, or various media are you into? How are they?

Started season 5 of Curb your enthusiasm again yesterday. Larry David is a genius.

What are you writing, writing related activities, and/or editing? How is that going?

Finishing my creative writing program for this year. Yesterday I had my last feedback workshop for a dramatic monologue I was working on. They loved it, although my ending wasn't all that great. So I'm rewriting that. But it was my first dramatic monologue and they referenced to some great writers (whom, I must admit, read plentyful before writing, so I'm perhaps a bit too influenced by them)

Do you have any other creative projects in other formats?

There's an art exhibit for which I wrote a ring-poem which I'm carving into a tree.

Why aren't you getting more done with it (in general, not this very second)?

Too busy, not enough energy to put more effort in it.

Is that just an excuse?

'fraid so.

Really?

Yes, although I had too little sleep and an iron deficiency, but I'm just using that as an excuse, I know.

Anything you know and want to share with us?

I heard there's this CIA guy who admitted they lied right after 9/11. Redacted tonight with comedian Lee Camps, I believe, had some shtick about it.

Feel free to ask me a reasonable question(s), I just won't answer my own if you repeat them back or re-word them.

Why do you write? What do you hope to achieve with it? Who's your first reader?

How are you and yours doing (If you want/need to talk about your kids, family, day job, and daily grind use this question)?

Pretty good. The kid is on summer break, my fiancee is gettting a book series planned out, and I have a few things getting published. I have a couple of longer things that I am rewriting. Hopefully that will go well. It's convention season and my collection is selling decently.

What are you reading? How is it?

The Contortionist's Handbook. Amazing, at times. The prose is razor sharp.

What uncommon writing tools, websites, and what not are you using? How are they helping you?

I've generated quite a few ideas from the Clarkesworld wordle.  http://neil-clarke.com/short-story-titles-meet-wordle/

What other music, shows, movies, or various media are you into? How are they?

Faith No More's new albumn is great. Most of the shows I watch are on break. But I really only watch two.

What are you writing, writing related activities, and/or editing? How is that going?

I am in the horror class here, right now, and just finished a story titled "Malignant." I'm re-writing/finishing a science fiction noir novel titled "Heaven's Edge."

Do you have any other creative projects in other formats?

Anymore, I don't have the time for any creative endeavors outside of writing. It's sad really. I used to be a musician and a visual artist, as well.

Why aren't you getting more done with it (in general, not this very second)?

I feel pretty good about the pace that I am completing things.

Is that just an excuse?

Not lying.

Really?

Really.

How are you and yours doing (If you want/need to talk about your kids, family, day job, and daily grind use this question)?

Can’t complain. The family is good, the writing is flowing, work sucks a little less than usual.

What are you reading? How is it?

Conqueror by Conn Iggulden. Struggling a little with this one to be honest. The problem with historical novels is that you get restricted by what actually happened.

What uncommon writing tools, websites, and what not are you using? How are they helping you?

Anyone else use TV Tropes? I use it to research genre tropes so I can twist them.

What other music, shows, movies, or various media are you into? How are they?

Promoted my first gig last month – superb musician called Steve Pledger, so his music is high up on my love list. I thought the first series of 12 Monkeys was surprisingly good.

What are you writing, writing related activities, and/or editing? How is that going?

I’m one of the house writers for RCX Magazine which comes out (hopefully) next month. Four short stories and a flash piece appearing in issue 1 (though not in my real name). I’m at an advanced stage of editing, and hope to be done by the end of the month. Then I have four more stories to prep by October for issue 2. It’s going very well, and is probably the most enjoyable writing I’ve ever done.

Do you have any other creative projects in other formats?

No, the magazine is swallowing all my creative time.

Why aren't you getting more done with it (in general, not this very second)?

Just finished a major edit on one story yesterday, and will start one on another story today.

How are you and yours doing (If you want/need to talk about your kids, family, day job, and daily grind use this question)?

Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh...everything's perfeclty alright, now.  We're fine, we're all fine here now, thank you.

How are you?

What are you reading? How is it?

I'm reading House of Leaves, it's fine.

What uncommon writing tools, websites, and what not are you using? How are they helping you?

I'm using pen and paper, and it's helping me just fine, perfectly fine now, thank you. Better than the Ipad.

What other music, shows, movies, or various media are you into? How are they?

I'm getting back into comics, and it's just great. Really, though, paper comics, not the nonsense of e-comics.

What are you writing, writing related activities, and/or editing? How is that going?

Um, yes? I am writing, and I didn't for a long time, so thats going spledidly.

Do you have any other creative projects in other formats?

Well, yes I did, but things happened, and now maybe I can get them back on track. That'd be just fine.

Why aren't you getting more done with it (in general, not this very second)?

Social obligations.

Is that just an excuse?

No, the people are real. And apparently they really expect shit from me. Whatever, it's fine.

Really?

For really real.

It's classified. I could tell you, but...

I don't believe in reincarnation. I write because it just feels right (no pun intended), sort of like it smooths out the rough edges. I'd like to tournament these weird ideas/characters in my head for making me so odd. Do you mean first person to read my writing ever (grade school teacher) or the first person to read my new stuff (varies)? The title of my last story was Last Day, ironically enough.

Well Dave, that is an interesting question because I almost didn't last week, ended up in the ICU with complications from undiagnosed diabetes. I keep coming here because you guys kick over interesting ideas that help me write. I keep getting up and going on with other stuff for either that reason or because it is fun or I need to keep the lights on if it is work type stuff.
