Hey everyone, my name's Tyler. I actually joined all the way back in November but haven't spoken up much since then. A little bit more than over I year ago I quit my job. More because I absolutely couldn't stand the job any longer and a little less because I wanted to pursue writing full-time, though that did give a nice excuse for leaving. I spent the majority of this past year reveling in my new-found freedom but now the money's started running low enough that I've begun considering which direction my life is going to take from this point on.
It's become very obvious to me that writing is the only thing I have any interest in doing and equally as obvious that I need to seek out some writing-peers (as well throwing myself full body into the writing itself) if I want to give myself the best shot possible. I've had the misfortune of finding myself more or less alone in this pursuit.
Other than that, there's not much else to say about me. The only actual hobby that I have is powerbocking (jumping around on spring-loaded stilts) which I like for how dangerous it is most of the time. It's a good reminder that no matter how badly a day's writing might go or whatever anyone might say about my work there's no possible way that I can land myself in the hospital because of it. The same cannot be said of powerbocking, unfortunately.
Welcome! Don't be afraid of a day job, most of us have one.
Welcome Tyler!
Yes, day jobs suck.
Powerbocking sounds intense. I'd hate to muck it up and have one of those spring loaded stilts pop me under my chin or something worse.
Hope writing starts paying as well as paying off. We're here to help. :)
@Tyler Wow, words fail on that one. That's not even an epic fail where something breaks. I'd have been humiliated by that video. I feel sorry for the guy who had to film that. Once I went snowboarding and caught the back edge of the board and hit my ass so hard on a patch of ice I thought I had shit my pants. That's about as bad an "injury" as I ever got off sports. Glad you recovered from yours.
The funny part is I work night shift.
