I follow Neal Pollack on facebook and it appears he is in on this (after having relative success self-e-publishing his last novel). I think it's kind of cool as a reader, but I wonder how much it sucks for the writer. It's $1.99 for the first installment and all future installments are free. Yep, FREE. Weird, right? Especially when you consider KDP Singles which are 99 cents a pop. Anyway, what does LitReactor think?
I would perform an indecent act for anyone who would pay me anything for something I wrote. But that is more a statement about where I am with my "career" then about this.
I think it would be a good way to build an audience. Especially if you get in before the low quality clones flood it.
Margaret Atwood's been doing one called Positron. I loved the first two installments and I need to buy the third. I do think, though, that I'd enjoy them even more if she made them novel length.
I bought the Kurt Vonnegut one, but then I forgot about it. I don't like waiting for chapters or stories, I guess. I only buy comic books in bunches so I don't have to wait every month for the same reason.
Ray Banks is doing this with his new book The Matador. I haven't checked it out which is just a shame on my part.
