Any big fans of the movie? I thought it was pretty slow. Some cool practical effects, but if I'm being an asshole about it, felt like seeing the cenobites was the best part. So if you've seen the cover...

Anyone read the book? Is it better? Same? Different?

When I think about the movie, I mainly just think about that great scene consisting of Frank(?) getting his flesh torn apart. The movie is very slow. I've never read the book. Hell, I've never been able to read any of Barker's novels. I like his short stories, though.

The movie had some great visuals. I really liked a lot of the effects, even the thing that looks like a ziploc inflating and deflating. I would totally recommend the last...maybe third if you're interested in the visuals. But the rest is just so damn slow.

The book is almost identical to the movie, and is a pretty quick read. Pinhead is nowhere near as featured in the book. Though, if you are interested in reading Barker, i don't think this is the best option to start with. Instead I suggest reading The Books of Blood volumes 1-3.
