Haha! Bekka, we have them in red in our RV and in green and black on our balcony. I might have to get a photo of mine when they do the air show in Toronto.

My urban fantasy-writing girlfriend has moved in (a huge step as she has never lived with anyone, and I have never successfuly lived with anyone) which meant surrendering my dungeon-like writing space for re-imagining as a guest bedroom. This is my new set-up.
And this is the combined his/hers writing space.
There is a very discouraging lack of selfies in this thread. Bekanator and I are the only ones holdin' it down.
Pretty sure someone else took her pic, so it isn't a selfie.

Sure. Here's the only selfie I've taken this month and it's just about the most unattractive picture of me. I was showing twitter how much I look like Samara from The RIng when I dye my hair at home.

@Jack Campbell: Nice drum kit. Also much respect for the noise deadeners. I have an electronic kit in my place that rarely gets used due to space restrictions. When we move to Austin in August, it'll finally get room to breathe. Very nice!

Thanks. It is one of my favorite things on Earth, even though I don't play it as much as I should these days. The basis of the kit, the original five-piece, was the first thing I bought with my own money. I saved over a year of sacking groceries to buy it. But it also paid for part of my college tuition through a jazz scholarship, so I like to think it evened out.
When my girlfriend moved in, I told her, much to her dismay, that the drums have to have a place. I use a few different types of mutes, because I live in a townhome. Most of the drums have SoundOff mutes by Evans Percussion. I use Zildjian mutes for the cymbals. I love the SoundOff stuff. Great response and everything still sounds like itself. I'm not a big fan of the Zildjian. They work okay, but I like to utilize the whole surface of the cymbal to produce different sounds, which sort of kills the effectiveness of a small pad.
It's nice to have in the writing area. If I need a clean slate between projects, hopping on the set for a half-hour or so is like pressing the reset button. It's a break from thinking.
Here's a photo of me from about 5 minutes ago, sitting at my desk in a sweatshirt because even though I live in the desert, and even though it's the middle of summer, the location of my desk makes it feel like the freaking Arctic Circle while the rest of the house is a comfortable 73 degrees. I don't understand it. Iron Man doesn't understand it. It's a mystery.
Sweater-jealousy. Nam Nori sounds like a delicious Thai meal as well.
It was a gift. The tag says "MARVEL for her" and I've never found anything else from this "line" of clothing. Ho hum.
So, I got to meet Neil Gaiman. That was really, fucking awesome.
