Hi everybody!

For years now i have this 'primal urge' to write 'a book'.... I have plenty of interesting? ideas... at least i think that.

A friend of mine told me about this site, I hope i will learn from it... I think i will.... :)    Thanx for the suggestion, F.

Please forgive me my language troubles...  English is not my first language...

I think creativity can be very helpful with writing a book:  I once red an interesting book about it. One of the things to help you boost your creative thoughts is to surround yourself with people with the same interests.  I would like to be 'amongst' you, we all are/ want to be writers in this place..

bye bye , Species84

Welcome! Your English is fine. Also, clever Voyager reference. It's a holiday weekend in the US, not many folks on. I am slightly full of BBQ food and drinky drinks.

You may be asking, "My dear Matt Attack, if it's a holiday, why are you logging in?"

None of your god damn business! No, seriously, I am waiting on a review.

Enjoy this picture.

I just noticed the guy in the surgical mask, shirtless and pounding an empty Coke bottle like a cowbell. Just delightful.

Welcome! Your English is really good for a non-native speaker, like Matt said. Isn't his hair great?

Anyway, I'm Courtney. Are you going to be a workshop member? I wrote a long introduction to that if you're curious about it. I won't be on the workshop for a while because I'm too busy spending my money on cigarettes, but I'll be back sometime. It gives me a while to work on the novellette I'm writing.

I think you joined at the right time. The forums have turned to a seriously nerdy theme and it seems like we discuss more about writing than we did when I joined. It's nice. There are so many threads about random things here that are fun, but the writing threads have really helped me lately. If there are any things you're stuck on, we probably have a thread about it right now.

Now that I've rambled, I'll leave you to your wandering around the site tour now.

Hey there Species84, are you a Star Trek fan?

Dave's picture

Wow. I am severely disappointed. This has got to be the first intro that no one came in and prepped for Davery.

But I inderstand. People are tense. Deflated. Distracted. Don't let the drama deter you. Sadly, I cant post your welcome meme from my phone. Or if I can I dont know how.

Maybe Avery will get to it.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait till tomorrow afternoon.

In any case, have some fun. Thats the point.

One of these days, I will steal the meme myself and post it. Just to be an ass.

@species- Dave or Averydoll or some variation of the two will be along with a neat welcome thing-a-ma-jig

Matt - I will flag that shit as offensive all day long.

Plus, I stole it from Dave and he never even spanked me for it or anything.  He's such a gentleman.

Species - welcome.  You get this:

Thank y'all peeps!  :)

@VerboseLobster:  Yes i am a fan. i really dig the series. The old startrek movies however are not really my cup-of-tea...... talking about tea....mmmmmm....     Tea - earl grey - hot !    get it?     You like star trek too?

Sometime ago somebody told me the Battlestar galactica series were written by the DS9crew. To me this was rather disappointing to hear. Compared to ds9 , battlestar was mostly poorly written , i think.

Ps: 'that lobsterbook of yours' sounds interesting to read.

see ya

Not a fan really, but I liked the most recent Star Trek movie that was in theaters...I think there was some aspect of time travel? Not sure if the "lobster" book is for everyone. Books I love, I buy copies of and give to others to read. I don't like anyone borrowing from me, so I give certain things away.

I was Googling something on your profile and put things together. I was wondering, I'm bilingual too...or do you speak more than two languages? Can't remember...plus, too lazy to scroll up...what's your other language that you speak other than English?

@Laurance:  Dude,  google to the rescue.   I just found out that Count Eggmont is a member here on litreactor. hahaha.  How funny that is!  I am dutch you see. The real Count Eggmont (Egmont) is a 'rather unknown' historical figure who fought war during independance struggle in 16century netherlands.

The 'famous' Ramses Shaffy (a dutch jaques brel) , a singer , and fabulous textwriter played the roll of Count Egmont in the movie 'willem van oranje'.  A great performance that was.

(On the right you see R.Shaffy playing Egmont)

@verboselobster:  dutch......  :)   i read, speak and understand it perfectly.  Your first language is?

dutch......  :)   i read, speak and understand it perfectly.  Your first language is?

I had a feeling it was Dutch. My first language is English. I learned English and Vietnamese at the same time, but my English is better because of tons of practice. I speak decently in Viet, read okay in it, writing sucks in Viet.

Toward the end of the clip, as dancing man introduces a new level of spastic to what he's doing, coke-cowbell man changes the foot his is tapping.  My thought?  He psychokinetically controls spastic dancing man.  That's how that dude rolls.

Perhaps that is the explanation for all the recent zombie attacks. There was apparently one in New Jersey yesterday. "The surgeon" is somehow using Russian voodoo and his coke bottle of doom to control his zombie legions to dance and eat other people in broad daylight.

Also, it'll be many moons before I find a pic that awesome again.

I was fairly certain that I had typed "Literotica" into the search engine with my honorable left hand.

Since there is nothing particularly arousing to be found here (after paying *nine bucks*- which should have tipped me off) , I will amuse myself by introducing...um... myself instead...of...not. Ahem. Hello!

Does anyone know what this website is for?

Thank's Matt. I 've already found that thread. My comments above were meant to be humorous.

I see that you're reading Cormac McCarthy. I liked the prose in The Road very much and will soon be reading All the Pretty Horses as well. :)

No worries. The Road was great. All the Pretty Horses was alright. There was quite a bit of humor in there. You'll fit right in. Start an intro thread.

My house will fill up with crumbsnatchers any minute,so I will have to wait.

You're the first person to whom I've spoken here, Matt--thanks for being helpful. I never show anyone my writing, so the idea of a workshop is a little stressful. Having someone be friendly right off the bat really helps, so again "thanks".

Later.

Matt Attack's picture

No worries. It can be stressful, but the same can be said for publishers, agents, readers ect. You're going to have to show it to someone sometime. Why not get it out of the way now. Most of us are here to help and it'll get you growing as a writer. In the meantime, start an intro thread.
