I haven't been active on LitReactor in ages. Here's why:
With the help of a few close friends I've put together an online lit journal specifically for dark fiction. Horror, noir, mysteries, thrillers, bizarro. Whatever. We went live almost two weeks ago, and since then the response has been pretty great. In two weeks I've recieved almost 50 submissions (although only a handful have made the cut so far) and because of this have discovered some really brilliant writers. We're also looking for art too! Haven't gotten much of that yet.
I'm hoping to have issue #1 out by late August. The publication will be primarily digital, and will be available not only on your computer, but your kindles, nooks, iPads or any other fancy e-readers you kids are using nowadays.
We also have some exciting stuff planned, one of which is an interview with horror writer and editor of the upcoming Deep Cuts horror anthology, Angel McCoy (The kickstarter for said anthology can be found here. Lots of great writers in that mix.)
I wanted to bring all of this to your attention because LitReactor, to me, is a community brimming with fantastic writers. I encourage everyone to submit. If you can't/don't, then perhaps spread the word? The more people know about this project, the greater it becomes.
So, check out the website (above) you can also find us on duotrope and Dark Markets. We're also on facespace and tweeter if you're into that social media stuff.
Hope you guys like what you see in the coming months!
I submitted something to you after finding it on Duotrope -- cool! I've always been curious as to what it takes to set up an online magazine type deal like that. You should start a discussion telling us wannabes about the trials an tribulations you've face when setting up Insomnia Press!
That site is fucking silky smooth. I need to write something scary, because I want my name on that site.
I submitted a great story titled "Jump." I just hope it fits the critera. Had no idea this was yours when I submitted. Very cool man, very cool.
I love the idea. I look forward to submitting something to you. I hadn't seen the Dark Markets website. Thanks for sharing that, as well.
I have a dark comedy I'd like to send in.
It has to go through the work shop first though.
Is this the story that was originally supposed to be in Psychosis?
Yessir. I sent it to thunderdome but I still haven't heard back from them.
Checked out the site and it looks very cool. I'll try and work up something that I think you all might like and we'll see what happens.
The site looks great. Nice job. Also thanks for pointing out that Dark Markets. Had never heard of that place before.
