That's harsh, Stace. And here we used to be such good buds.

Sean, hell yeah, I've got all their albums. Last month I think I listened to Option Paralysis about a hundred times (I'm one of those guys who likes the new stuff too).

I heard there's another gin-drinker in the house!

I swear, everyone I ever talk to thinks gin is disgusting and that I'm a weirdo for drinking it. Whiskey (especially Irish, but a good Islay single malt never hurt anyone) is really my drink of choice, but a bottle of Bombay Sapphire is a real treat for me. So high fives. At least if your comment meant that you also are a confirmed imbiber.

And Stacy, that may be the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me.

Also, having Stacy Kear do things to your man bits is a privilege, not a right; savour it.

@Michael and Sean: the band isn't local to SF, they're mostly known as an LA band. But to answer your question, I'll be seeing The Dreaming. The lead singer has been my favorite since his days back in Stabbing Westward, so this event is a huge deal for me. I'm super excited!

@misskokamon - Not familiar with them, though my ex-wife was a big Stabbing Westward fan back in the day. Enjoy, either way!

Also, the love for gin and DEP here makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Unless that's just the gin.

I thought The Long Walk was your favorite by King? That's a Bachman book.

Not "shit." The shit. It's a good thing.

JEFFREY GRANT BARR's picture

I always found The Long Walk to be a little callow; for the Bachman books, my favorites are Thinner and Roadwork, the former for its flashes of King humor, and the latter for its clumsy big-hearted emotionalism. Rage is great fun to read, but kind of flat on repeated readings. I have no idea why I'm commenting on this, I see King or Bachman mentioned and I go into blabbering moron mode. Anyway: a vote for JGB is a vote for free downers and handguns! Tell your friends/fiends!

Why do I always have to be the aggressor in these fake Internet relationships? I'm relatively good looking, funny and smart. (see how smart comes last in the list of importance, smart) you'd think someone would friend me but noooo. You're friended.

"@Avery: Because you too are a seething, bubbling cauldron of homicidal rage... question mark?"

Sometimes, yes.

I hadn't talked to my best friend in about a week (rare for us), so we took time to catch up today.  She told me she broke her computer.  Out of some sort of self-loathing, she told me she starting reading emails from an ex whom she had just had a bad break up with.  At some point, she said she went into a sort of rage-daze and she took her laptop to the back door and threw it out onto the walkway, busting it.  I reminded her that she had lost everything, all her pictures, work files, everything...except for those emails, which will still be in her inbox when she gets a new computer.  She asked me politely to go to hell.

That is some top notch best-friending. You allowed her to release her anger at you instead of internally combusting when she realized what she had done. She should send you a card and chocolates.
