  1. Are you alive? YES!!
  2. Do you have any new year resolutions or goals? Yeah, mostly just trying to let go of some stressful situations and learn to accept better ones
  3. Any January birthdays? NOPE!
  4. Overall - how was 2012? Weird as hell.  Some of the strangest, most terrible, and most wonderful things ever happened last year.  Overall, it turned out really good, but I don't want to do it all over again.
  5. Is 2013 going to be better or worse?  I'm leaning towards better.  But I hate to jinx it.
  6. What did you do for New Year's eve?  Was sick.
  7. Tell me a little bit about your socks.  I don't wear socks much, I usually wear heels.
  8. What's your writerly ambition for this year?  Working on what will of course be the best book ever in the history of books.
  9. What brand of coffee do you drink/prefer?  I always just buy folgers.  I'm so not fancy
  10. When you didn't see this thread on January 1st were you sad or devastated?  Why did no one understand this was an either/or question?

Why did no one understand this was an either/or question?

Since I started it off, I accept the blame.

"Who the fuck cares? "

  • I do, obviously!

But of course!

I'm deciding it will be better. But I just had to reformat my laptop and lost ALL of my programs and a good chunk of e-books. With a few but significant exceptions, I've recovered most of what I remember having.

Back up your work, people, then backup your backups.

And, anyone know where I can get MS Word for less than an arm and leg?

Are you alive?

I don't know what definitions you would be working from. As a subject in a simulation of life ala The Plaigerist it all feels real enough. I'm still not sure that I've blown it already and this is the eternity of hell as referred to in various catalogs, this level is limbo where I must, along with everyone else live, all the lives that have ever been lived on earth, one day I am the slavemaster and the next a slave, I think that might be the reason for all those Napoleans. A glitch in the program. Probably extra homework reserved the recalcitrant recidivists.

Do you have any new year resolutions or goals?

No, everything is covered by rolling five year plans that start at idea conception.

Any January birthdays?

Just all the inlaws, all of them. my god. How does that happen? Please no details I can count.

Overall - how was 2012?

Very good, when you hit the crest of the ridge, it's all freaking downhill. So it's much much faster.

Is 2013 going to be better or worse?

What? I've found litreactor, it can only get better, right?

What did you do for New Year's eve?

Early dinner, had to work that day, early bed, exhaustion does that.

Tell me a little bit about your socks.

Knee length, compression, $25, tight, no more leg swelling. But I do admire Monica's, she steals them from her daughter and wears them to work. They're very colourful. She smiles a lot too. Monica.

What's your writerly ambition for this year?

To write writing. Not forum writing. Not critique writing. Write writing.

What brand of coffee do you drink/prefer?

Ha, I drink coffee. StarBucks, is my morning coffee five days a week. Grande in a Vente cup. It's the cream. After that if I could get Kona regularly I'd drink that. Trying out Tim Hortons for Tassimo. Won't drink that from their outlets but my brother in law was dishing it out from his Tassimo and it was okay.

When you didn't see this thread on January 1st were you sad or devastated?

I'm too new to know it is a thing. I'm sad that others might have been devasted that I hadn't put in an appearance from when it did show up. And for that I apologize. I forget what form of fallacy putting things into yes/no or black/white or either/or form is but these essay questions are so tricky to begin with.

1. Are you alive?
Yes, although at times I think this unfortunate.

2. Do you have any new year resolutions or goals?
Just to survive and be sure 2014 is the year I accomplish half my life goals.

3. Any January birthdays?
Not here.

3. Overall - how was 2012?
Shitty! I survived three months homeless though.

It has made me more ambitious and hungry for not just food, but success than the next guy.

4. Is 2013 going to be better or worse?
It looks like it may be better. There's a lot of people going out of their way to help me.

5. What did you do for New Year's eve?
Hid in an attic editing a novel draft while a party raged on the floors below me.

6. Tell me a little bit about your socks.
I think they are mismatched and I've been wearing them for three days.

I only own two pairs and niether match.

7. What's your writerly ambition for this year?
A press wants me to publish a poetry compilation with them next year, so I'm going to try to get enough poems together this year for that. I've also received some good compliments on the latest copy of my novel manuscript from places for its semi-originality. If I continue to execute these things correctly I may see myself a duel titled published author at the age of 22 come 2014.

Other than that I'd like to get as many short stories into anthologies and flash onto websites as I can. So far I am doing a better job than I thought I would with that.

What brand of coffee do you drink/prefer?
That Wafflehouse kind, following a hangover.

When you didn't see this thread on January 1st were you sad or devastated?
No one likes you, Jessica. Your feet stink. So no.

If you work for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System you can get it for about $20.  Otherwise...I am unsure.  Was this helpful?  :)

Everyone likes me!  I'm adorable.

Are you alive? -Not really, and not joking.

Do you have any new year resolutions or goals? -Not because it's the new year, but yeah.

Any January birthdays? -That's awfully specific. One, yeah.

Overall - how was 2012? -Not great. Not awful, but I need things to look up.

Is 2013 going to be better or worse? -I really don't know. I think better.

What did you do for New Year's eve? -Christmas party at wonderwoman's house. Good times! Except I was staying over and the one person I can't stand stayed later than anyone else. Guhhhh, that guy.

Tell me a little bit about your socks. -Black with some red or white logo that always fails to get my attention.

What's your writerly ambition for this year? -compete admirably in WAR and that's it. Maybe put out a volume of short stories through Amazon.

What brand of coffee do you drink/prefer? -I don't have a preference, as long as it's not Maxwell House and as long as I have Bailey's hazelnut creamer.

When you didn't see this thread on January 1st were you sad or devastated? -What??

  1. Are you alive? Yeah, you wanna fight about it?
  2. Do you have any new year resolutions or goals? Nope, my life is a perfect picture of perfectness and having resolutions or goals would only hinder my perfection... or was it laziness...
  3. Any January birthdays? Well, yeah: Elvis. Though to be honest I only know what Elvis's birthday is because two of my best friends are also born on the eighth.
  4. Overall - how was 2012? An irresistible year whose elegance draws you subliminally into its orbit. Intense ruby-garnet in color, it is redolent of a profusion of aromas of coffee, cherries and sun dried fruits. Its high alcohol makes it full and generous in the mouth and it overwhelms the palate with intense flavors, prolonging your pleasure with its characteristic slightly bitter finish. (This is actually fairly accurate...)
  5. Is 2013 going to be better or worse? All signs point to maybe.
  6. What did you do for New Year's eve?  I was sick, so mostly sleeping.
  7. Tell me a little bit about your socks.  I have just purged my life of years of accumulated plain white tube socks. I pretty much only wear black loafers or... nope, that's it... so black socks is all I wear now. Or nice wool socks with some color during the cold months.
  8. What's your writerly ambition for this year?  Writing the worst book ever conceived of in the whole of the english language.
  9. What brand of coffee do you drink/prefer?  Any black, and preferably cold-brewed. But I have a soft spot for Cafe du Monde, especially served in the Vietnamese style (with condensed milk).
  10. When you didn't see this thread on January 1st were you sad or devastated?  Sadvastated.
  11. Why did no one understand this was an either/or question? I did, but a comma probably would have helped: "were you sad, or devastated?" Also breaking up the rhythm of the first half of the question so the beats fell more equally would have made it more clear: "On January 1st, when you didn't see this thread, were you sad, or devastated?" Alternatively, giving 'devastated' its own clause would have given it equal weight to 'sad' and then not felt as much of an addendum: "were you sad, or were you devastated?"
  12. ...God, I'm such a nerd...
