Hi, everyone--
I'm Jen and I am in need of an editor for my latest WIP. I thought what better place to ask around than right here? I am currently about to begin the polishing phase of my rough draft. I set it aside to marinate for a bit, and I feel as if it is sufficiently seasoned and juicy.
I feel that, to take a piece to the next level. professional editing is absolutely necessary. I have self published four other books previously, two of which are contemporary romantic fiction works. I used the same editor for both of these, and while I appreciated his input and his services, our styles didn't exactly mesh. His genre is horror, and his writing style is very technical and straight laced, whereas I am a bit more flowery.
My current MS is an adventure story set in 1936 Europe, entitled Two Strangers and a Train. It is a fun, fast paced story splashed throughout with romance, as I find this to be a very romantic time period, and it showcases a few historical figures, as well. (I'm a history nerd and old movie lover...just fyi)
Does anyone have any guidance they would be willing to share? I have researched online and on LinkedIn, but I would love to have a few names thrown at me. (Figuratively speaking, of course. Please don't throw them at me for real--it might be painful.) Thanks for the help!:)
You might consider LitReactor member Lauren Spieller. She was great to work with on one of my query letters a while back and she offers full manuscript services: http://www.laurenspieller.com/services
Best of luck!
I'll be taking on new clients starting in January. Here's my blog with all of the details:

While I do write horror, and other dark fiction, I also have an MFA, and write and read all kinds of lighter fare. Drop me a note at wickerkat@aol.com if you want to talk more. Best of luck with the book, whatever you decide!
I'll vouch for Richard since I've worked with him before. No shade to Lauren, of course. I just know Richard can do whatever you need him to having worked with him on multiple things.
I have not worked with Richard, but having seen his and Brandon's work, you can't go wrong there either. Looks like you came to the right place!
thanks, guys. appreciate that. there are a lot of testimonials at my blog, Jen, that can speak to the different aspects of what i do as an editor.
In an unrelated note: Richard also sends out tons of lives for Papa Pear Saga.

TRUE.
That's what we're here for.
