New here but known about this place for a bit. Figure I need to really get on the networking side of things. Hoping to meet some folks that like writing gritty realism and enjoy disturbing topics in general.

well you've come to the right place...although I'm more for gritty topics and distrubing realism, but I guess it wouldn't be a mixed bag of nuts without some differences.

I'm a cashew. Good, but not worth the price.

What is your favorite book Ken?

It's nice to meet you Ken.  I think you've come to the proper place for gritty realism. I for one was working on my erotic Magnum P.I. fan fiction "50 Shades of Mustache" and to say it was a little intense is an understatement.  I like to think the way I wrote Higgins giving that girl a German Jetstream will rock the reader to his/her core.  Well enough of these silly pleasantries, lets get down to the brass tax.

The first step in welcoming will be a picture from Matt.  If this forum was a sitcom Matt would be the lovable curmudgeon, the wacky neighbor and token black character wrapped up in one.  No matter what picture he leaves he does so out of love, even if it tells you to eat shit. Matt's contribution is taped before a live studio audience.

Then if you're lucky, and if we've figured out who is doing this you will get the official welcome pic from one of our other veteran members.

After this happens you will be one of us.  We will form for a group embrace that will resemble a "hug bukkake" as my grandmother called it and we won't let go until Jacks finishes.

So welcome to the lit.

Sincerely,

Christopher Stephens Morales Wanda Sykes Davis Jr.

I had to look up curmudgeon. This is what I got. Enjoy. You're approved.

Also, I take solace in the fact that I'm an angry black Kramer.

Best intro ever.

When I was little, my grandfather loved cashews, but they're very expensive right?  So each year for Christmas I would get him some cashews (my grandmother bought them, I just got to say they were from me).  Even when I got older and had money to buy him other "real" gifts, I still always got him cashews for Christmas along with whatever else.

Yeah same with my dad. They seem to be a sentimental tradition.
Like when you graduated and they used to put a thing of mixed nuts into your gown. Why does that sounds dirty?

Wait...what?  I am unaware of your bizarre graduation ritual.  I think you may have a repressed rape memory coming to the surface.

Gosh Doll. Don't you work at a college? There is a pocket on the graduation gown. They used to put a bottle of wine and a jar of nuts in the pocket to symbolize sending you off into the world. They don't do it anymore but they kept the pocket. -_________-

I work at a college.  I don't work for a graduation gown manufacturer!

That doesn't even make sense because that's Avery's married name.

Duh.
