Hi! Just joined officially; I've had a basic account and have been lurking for at least a year. I've been scribbling stories since I was twelve and love words and language. I'm currently a professional proofreader, which is deadly boring; I proofread mostly business documents. I also work in retail. I'm an aspiring writer but have suffered from a real self-doubt in my writing for a few years now. I miss the abandon I had when I was fourteen and fifteen, scribbling away with those skinny Sharpies in Composition notebooks. The stories were awful, rambling things, but there was so much joy in doing it. I'm hoping to get that joy back.
Anyway, I'm happy to be here and will be working up something for critique. I'd like to dabble in steampunk; it's always been a favorite genre.
Personal details: I'm single; I have a cat named Emma; I love cheap wine and good beer and chocolate and knitting and yoga and documentaries. Avocados are also a favorite. I live in Pennsylvania in an old steel mill town. It lends itself to steampunk writing quite nicely, actually.
I'm currently job hunting and hope to be able to join a class soon. :o)
So anyway, yeah, hello!
Welcome.
Hi Sarah,
Always good to have a proof reader aboard :)
Welcome to LitReactor, enjoy your stay :)
Welcome to LR! Hope you find the site helpful :-)
welcome! are you writing anything right now, sending anything out, published yet? what steampunk have you read? i've only read a few but like the sub-genre. i kind of consider some of the DARK TOWER by Stephen King to be steampunk, maybe China Mieville's PERDIDO STREET STATION (which I LOVED). i liked LEVIATHAN and also BONESHAKER.
Hi there Elizabeth! I'm new too and about to officially introduce myself but wanted to take a look around the 'new' community first. Glad to meet you here and good luck with the class (which I like you, hope will be sometime soon).
