I'm Michael from Austin, TX, where ya'll is considered a valid word.
I was on LR for a while, stepped away, now I'm back.
I've had a couple things published since I last lurked around the Writer's Workshop, and even have a piece included in an upcoming anthology. Hooray for progress!
I like noir and generally darker themes. I like horror somewhat, but I'm more of a mystery/thriller sort of guy.
Where are all the Will Christoper Baer obsessives? That's me. If that's you, I want to read your stuff and for you to read mine.
WCB, Craig Clevenger, Stephen Graham Jones, Brian Evenson, Chuck P.
Welcome ... back ... to the pit.
Welcome back :)
what would you consider the quintessential noir piece that everyone should read to understand the genre?
Welcome back. Nice to meet you..
Well there's Noir and then Neo-Noir.
Most of what I've read would be considered the neo-noir stuff.
I'm sure this is debatable but to me, at least, the best representations of neo-noir would be:
Kiss Me Judas - Will Christopher Baer
Hell's Half Acre - Will Christopher Baer
The Contortionist's Handbook - Craig Clevenger
So many good titles out there.
