It's been a while since I was on this site and and I see a lot of unfamiliar faces, but hopefully I see some familiar ones as well. Just wanted to reintroduce myself.
Hi! Love your icon! Have enjoyed your posts.
How do you like "More Than Human"?---disclaimer: haven't read it.. do you recommend?
^Weren't you named astrocat before? or was that someone else? Is changing your username possible in here?
Hey PandaMask, welcome back :)
You again.
Both of you again. What the hell. Hi, everybody. Good to see you're not dead.
PandaMask: Things They Carried is a very good book; read it a while back.
@Utah: I got sick at the end of 2012. Pronounced dead sometime in 2013. Woke up in January of this year, dusted myself off and got on a plane to Afghanistan for a nice year long vacation.
@Grigory:
I think I remember you mentioning being sick around that time, but for some reason I was under the impression you'd fought on through. Regardless, it's good you're back and no longer dead.
@Grigori:
Wow what a ton of crap to go through and come out the other side! Inquiring minds would like to know what it was like to be declared dead...
The lone thread hijacker strikes again.
Seriously though, unfortunately I've spent the better part of the last 8 years playing 'weird symptom bingo' with various doctors. Four years ago, I got a good diagnosis and got better for a little while. Two years later, I started having weird symptoms again with no clear cause. This time it turned out to be misdiagnosis (they misread a test) but luckily for me, the misdiagnosis led them to do more thorough tests to rule things out and they found what the underlying cause was that contributed to a second condition (the one they misdiagnosed by saying I DIDN'T have it).
So now I'm recovering and enjoying better living through modern medication. Where I was at one pill a day for the rest of my life, now I'm at a pill a day, plus an injection once a month, plus a mandatory requirement to avoid certain foods or suffer severe physical symptoms. And now there's the fun of waiting for the next round of bizarre symptoms and the third condition to progress to the next stage.
@PandaMask: sorry to hijack the thread.
@PandaMask: I apologize as well; it's my fault. Also hope you enjoy the book!
Welcome. Remember it is always Justword's fault. Always. War of 1812? Her fault. You getting a cold? Her fault. When I stubbed my toe last year? Her fault? End of days? Her fault. Madness from hunting Cthulhu? Her fault.
Dwayne, How did you know? I'm always apologizing for everything! Although your stubbed toe is not my fault-- totally on you, Mr. Graceful!
Nope, I checked the file.
Then your file is incorrect.. and once again, PandaMask's thread is hijacked..by Dwayne.
This time Dwayne's sorry, PM!
No, no I'm not sorry. Even a little bit, kinda sorta. If Panda puts up another thread, I'll jack it too. That is what we do here. It is best everyone knows that early. And I will not let you, or him, or anyone get us back on topic. Which leads to my next question?
Possum?
Hi PM, I guess so; that's what Dwayne is saying. Good on you kiddo!
@Dwayne-- I come in peace! Not only that but I don't remember a topic, except to welcome our friend PandaM. --- Cheers!
Never had it.
Me neither; we do have them in the neighborhood, knocking over the garbage and creating a nuisance. Do you skin them before cooking?
I just told you I don't have them, so it never came up.
Hello, joined up a while ago. Hope things are well.
@Dwayne:
Are you guys in the storm path? Mississippi had a couple of twisters earlier; not sure what we'll end up with--our round is coming in between 7-8 pm. Our local weather guy (my husband & I named him "Weather Woody" for obvious reasons) gets so wound up when he can use all his cute toys.
Anyway, hope you're out of the zone!
Yeah, but it isn't that bad here. Just rain.
Good. We had a pretty intense night, with casualties, property damage, and maybe more today. Glad you're ok!
