So, maybe I'm crazy but I think not. I think this is my third go through of Dermaphoria, and earlier in the book, when Eric's getting his bandages checked by the doctor, he overhears someone, an overdose patient, talking to a doctor, telling him it was an accident. This immediately made me think of Contortionist's Handbook. I chuckled, mentally wagged a finger at Clevenger, and kept reading.
And just now, at the end of Chapter Fourteen, on pages 97-98, Manhattan White goes to see Eric about the paperwork for Oz and brings with him a man he calls Associate. The man has "red hair and blue eyes" dresses in nondescript greys and tans, is immaculately clean, and doesn't shake Eric's hand or tell him his name when Eric extends a hand. Then he puts a cigarette to his mouth, even though Eric "could have sworn his hand was empty" and "didn't see him reach for his pocket". This could totally be John Vincent!! Not to mention how the guy knows EXACTLY how far they are from the house, he tosses a rock showing where five hundred feet is, and that he sets up the paper trail for Eric's house.
So maybe I'm crazy, and maybe I'm dumb for not noticing this before, but holy crap this blew my mind.
It is John Vincent. Listened to a podcast a while back, can't find the link but he said that he wants places and characters to over lap. All his work exist in the same world. Be intresting how mothers howl is going to fit in.
Be intresting how the film turns out
The film looks promising.
Don't you know the books are always better than the films :P
