I am a 38 year old man, who decided to take up writing more than a decade after I last wrote anything significant. Born and raised in Norway, I have always loved the English language, and decided to use that in order to reach a larger audience.

I have no illusions about my writing, as this is nothing but a hobby. It does however help me with my professional life, as it sparks my creativity, and I need my creativity as a professional photographer.

Anyway, I am happy I found this site, and I hope you'll pardon my litterary sins as I'm writing in my second language.

Welcome!

Photography is an incredible skill; I can see the overlap. So great to see someone making a match with images and writing.

As for language, having more than one in my own arsenal, I know how useful it can be overall re objective understanding of syntax and nuance etc., so... great! Use it!

I have a really close Swedish friend; she's a drummer in a metal band. We've often swapped notes on Norwegian black metal.

Anyway, wish you luck!

Welcome! I don't know what it's like in Norway, but in Sweden the market for short fiction is nearly nonexistent, especially for genre fiction. I don't necessarily think people get rich peddling shorts in the Anglosphere either, but at least there are publications, not to mention communities such as this one to help you grow and keep you inspired. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Karen, I think that somewhere down the road I'll illustrate a few of my short stories with my own photos. It will be a fun side project. And Norwegian black metal is something I can swap notes on too. :)

Linda, I'm not writing to sell really, but to work on my creativity in order to become a better photographer. The situation is the same in Norway as it is in Sweden though. I don't think a lot of people would buy the short stories of someone random. If I had a past as a sports jock, or knew someone royal, I guess people would've bought it. (Another option is to join Survivor (Robinson's Island) or Paradice Hotel to become a c-list celeb, and then publish.) ;)
