Hey guys.

Here's the October Flash Me! poll.

This was a great month. A lovely array of voices tackling the prompt. We have an eight-pointed star of chaos in flash fiction form. The prompt was they mostly come out at night and the word limit was 750.

Last time I was tough on myself and whittled the entries down to three. Not this time. I decided to include the wider range this time because 1) I liked all of them, and 2) With WAR about to start, here's a cool chance to see some of the contests in warm-up action, scope out their style a little.

What I find very impressive is the diverse use of the prompt.

People are going to be rather busy this coming week, and the file is a little longer this time, so the poll will run for fourteen days this time. the prize for the winner is a copy of The Last Final Girl by Stephen Graham Jones.

Rock on, people. Good flashing this month. Very good.

We have past winners and Flash Me! debutants here alike. This is also very cool. To the new contestants - cheers, and I hope you join in again :-)

Is it weird that I feel I shouldn't vote since I'm in the poll? (Which, btw, I'm totally stoked about and really didn't expect to make it this far...)

Now is hardly the time to get all ethical...

Knowing full well that every time I have bumped a poll thread that I have a stake in, it has resulted in a vote "against" me, this is still too close to let fall to page 2.  So...BUMP

this is going to be close between S.O.T.D., L.E.N., and F.W., but really, no one is out of it yet.

Who needs presidential elections?  I'm excited to watch this unfold.

stop letting this poll find it's way to page 2.  This is the most important vote you will cast for at least 2 more days.

SO this ends tomorrow - c'mon folks, lets grab a few more votes. It will probably be the last regular Flash Me poll for a little while, so all you who are done voting on war stories, here's something to pass the time!

All these awesome little stories add to to less than the word count for one war duel, so I'm sure we can get a few more folks voting here, eh?

Love you all :-)

for sure. my pleasure. if it wasn't WAR you'd probably have more people over here.

wickedvoodoo's picture

Yeah, it's a busy time for the forum.

After the quotes edition is done, I will probably leave Flash Me in an 'open' state for a month or two, people can still put flashes up there, but I doubt there will be another poll until the WAR has progressed a little.

Eeek, yeah, been up against the wall the past couple of days with a few things, I apologise for being slow here.

Fritz "the cat" Wolfe is indeed our winner. Rainmaker is the flash of the month. Bloody good stuff too.

Also, this makes Fritz a multiple time winner of Flash Me! - he's getting the profile of a heavyweight these days. His first winner Jack? can be found in Nova Parade.

Fritz, when I am bookshopping at the end of the month your prize will be ordered for you as a gift copy. PM me your address, dude, so I can sort that one out.

Many thanks to all who voted, and of course, to all that flashed us their naughty bits.

Awesome. Thank you guys. I think we all rock for having the creativity to whip out 750 word stories and then the stones to lay them out for others to see. It's great to be around writers that write. :). These flashes are great ways to build frameworks for fresh new words. Gotta love it.
